in the early 70's i begged my dad for one of them kmart 336's. price was $88 by then. dad had mouths to feed so i didn't get one for close to 40 years. but i made up for it in a big way.

That sounds way high for one here in Michigan. Average of $325-$350 round here for a nice one.

I picked up a VVG '84 model CS in 35 Rem this weekend for $250. It HAD see thru's w/ a 3-9x40 Bushnell Bubblepack scope on it. Looks like it was carried more than shot. I've got a K2.5 w/low Weaver rings I bought new back in the late 60's to put on it. LUCKILY I had the scope reconditioned by Frank Ruiz(WSRS)before he closed shop. I see Midway offers two pc. Weaver bases for the 336. Anyone using them?
