I have a stainless ADL 30-06 that I grabbed up here locally a few months ago for $379 NIB and hadn't put a scope on it. I was going back and forth about what to put on it for glass and really didn't want to spend a bunch of money as I am about to lose 40% of my household income next month (furloughs) so I stumbled across these Nitrex TR One scopes on sale on Natchez. It caught my attention and while searching for info about them I found this post

posted by ME back in 2008 ha ha. Anyway long story short they are on sale for $119 for the Matte 3-9x42's and after realizing they are really Weaver Grand Slams I ordered one up yesterday. Anyone run one of these??

I bought two Nitrex in 6-20 for varmint hunting. One would not hold zero so I sent it back to Weaver.Did not take long and they sent me a new one as they could not get it to hold zero. Now it works perfectly along with the other one. Scopes with problems can happen to any company, but they replaced mine with no argument.

I have two of them, both are the 6-20X or 6-24X I can't remember what they are. One is mounted on a howa 22-250 and the other is still in the box waiting to be mounted. They seem to be very bright and clear for the money. I would say that they are as bright and clear as my leupold Vari x III's atleast to my eyes. Elevation and windage seem to track well on the one that is mounted. I haven't used the rifle much so I can't speak for it's durability, but I'm very happy with it. For the money though I think you would be hard pressed to find a scope that is any better.

Yeah I know the Weaver Grand Slams' get a lot of love from the guys that use em, and I thought it was funny that I had asked about this very scope I bought some 5 years ago and can remember thinking that the glass quality was very good. I figured chit....for $119 how can a guy go wrong. If the rifle shoots I'll have a handy package that ammo is cheap and readily available for to mess around with.

The TR1 is a weaver grand slam, and the TR2 is a weaver super slam. I bought a TR1 6-20 and a TR2 4-20 when natchez was closing them out, I like the TR1 better and it was $100 cheaper, though both were a steal at the closeout prices. They're very good scopes, as good as anything else out there in the $350 range, a steal at $119.

I have the 3-9 TR1 and like it allot. My dad has the same scope. Both are on hard use rifles. Really good glass for the money in my opinion. I just realized that Crow Hunter actually suggested this scope to me on this forum a couple of years back. At that time they had an additional $50 rebate. Got mine for $100 delivered. One of the best bargains I ever got. Thanks crow hunter!

Actually the TR-2 IS the Super Slam, the TR-1 is discontinued. Weaver dropped it rather than compete against it's own "Classic" and "40/44" lines after Nitrex was merged with Weaver(and later dropped along with Intensity) when ATK reacquired Weaver from Meade.

I have two of the 4 X 20 TR2's and love them. They are very clear and hold zero very well. I havent had a chance to check tracking yet but at 200 yards they have produced many good groups.

I have settled on the Nitrex TR2 3-15x42 plex reticle scopes on my two go to hunting rifles, a 6.5x 284 Savage build Rock Cr. barrel and a 300WM M70 Win. with a Benchmark barrel.
Very versatile scopes that dial up well and a great mag range for short and long range.
Quite happy with the optic quality as well.
The bang for buck ratio on these is hard to beat.
