I'm blown away by your work. How did you learn to do this?

Just beautiful.

well im pretty much self taught . At one time I did a lot of chase engraving . But time and other work took its toll on my hands . I got to the point I could not hold a chase graver . So I stopped engraving The 4 years ago I was lucky enough to win a Lindsey Classic in a contest Steve Lindsey was having .
Its taken me a while to get my skills back . They still are not there yet . Only about 80%. But the nice thing is im now able to progress in my skills and im once again enjoying the work

Very nice indeed! Enough engraving to show your talents, but still tasteful. Looks like an auction gun at an ILA banquet.

Love to see your work from four years ago.

MMM?? around 120 hours to design the pattern , polish out the piece and engrave.
What doesnt really show up in the photos is that the background is all in relief . Once thats been relieved it gets cross hatched . Once thats done I used a beading tool and raised small bead so as to texture the background . Each bead is done one at a time .
Here is a photo of the recoil child and top of the back strap , prior to the shading being done
It shows the beading of the back ground . So like I said before , at this point the pattern had been cut , the background relieved , cross hatched , then beaded .
I did this on the barrel as well as below the water lines on the receiver on each side
