Great picture!!!
Mickey's been pestering me about building a 6BR. I'm thinking he's gonna talk me into it...

HBB.. So far it really rocks with the N-135 and 70gr MK's... Also likes the 75 V-Max and 70 BT's... To slow for anything bigger than these..
What twist does your barrel have? My 6BR is a 1 in 10 Twist. HBB

Michael Thanks for your kind words. This rifle began life as a Model 7 LSS .243 that was languishing on the used gun rack at the local shootatorium. I took pity on the poor gun and liberated it to use as the basis for a 6BR. I had Mickey Coleman fit a #4 contour Douglas XX 1 in 10 twist barrel finished at 22 inches, square the action, and apply one of his bang up bedding jobs to the factory laminated stock. It shoots obscenely accurate with every bullet weight I've tried and weighs in at 8.25 lbs field ready. HBB

I figured I would end up with a single shot, however, I'm not sure but what it is the best feeding 700 that I own.. To quote Steve "it feeds like quick silver". 7-08, I wonder if your rifle starting out as a .243 has something to do with the easy feeding? My 6BR was originally a .243 too and it feeds fine. Could be a .243 and a 6BR are just close enuff in case size to eliminate the feeding issues. HBB

HBB I don't know but you might be right on the 243 feeding thing...My next one will have a 10 twist as well..Is that your shooting bench yours is on or your work bench, lol..
Tim, the barrel was blasted with aluminum oxide (If I remember correctly) and then oiled with Rem Oil..nothing special but it does look a little different than most..

Man, get you a chronograph......its one of the neatest toys a Rifle Looney can own Just don't do what I do and shoot the D#$324n things Its awfully embarrassing and just scares the you know what out of the newbie shooter on the next bench when a stiff loaded 150 grain Nosler BT out of a 7x57 makes contact with the main body of a chronograph @ 15 feet Then there was the time a 165 grain Berger screaming out of a .300 Winny hit the Chronograph and blew little bits of Chrony all over the firing line ...And then there was .. okay I better stop before I tell everything on myself HBB

Why isnt everybody using 1-8 twists? You can shoot anything from 55-105 grain bullets with it.

Nortman, I already had this barrel and it works well with the light weight bullets.. When I do another one, it will have a ten twist as I don't have any reason to shoot the 107's and 115's with the type of gun I will be building.. The ten will handle all bullets I want to use.. With that said, I do understand using the eight twist and the fun one could have at long range with the big bullets, but to me, that is mostly target shooting..

I also got the barrel at a very good price. If I build another 6BR it will likely be for the LR/Varmint shooting and I'll go with an 8 twist. HBB

Both of those are really sweet rifles. Here's a little shorter version. Actually it's a 6mm BRX. Just as fun to shoot, though. ![[Linked Image]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f239/kyehle/CopyofXp-1.jpg)
