I have had the pleasure to see in actual conditions, the differences in bullet weights at 600 yds. I devloped a load in the 12" twist with 80gr Fowler bullets (outstanding bullets) and shot these at 600. The wind was too much an influence and I dropped 4 points, this was the worst I had ever done at this distance. I tried some 105 JLK`s in the 8" twist, and dropped 1 point that I called as the condition changed, and I made no correction. Clearly my fault. I just got through looking the Tubb 115 6mm bullet over, and may try to come up with a case to shoot it in. The most accurate 6mm bullet at short range I have fired is the 65 gr Gentner.

Very nice short-gun
How is the recoil compared to something like a .223 out of a handgun?

I see where George Gardner built himself a straight 243Win to shoot the 115's and the results are fairly impressive to 1K.
He described it as a 7.5" twisted Schneider 5P tube and mentioned 3200fps via "secret" load with the DTac's.
I'd guess Re-22,but that's 100% speculation..................

HBB,
Thanks. The recoil in the 6mm BRX isn't bad at all, it just snaps up a bit. I had a Contender in 223 and it doesn't seem much different.

I can like the mid-grip XP's over the rear grip, for recoil management, but prefer the rear grip repeaters for Hunting....................

I've yet to bloody the mid-grip yet, but I like that I can see everything at 12X with my ape arms extended. I've got a rear grip 6.5/284 that I have to scrunch up with at the higher powers.

I had to drive Burris glass on my midgrip 7-08,because my un-apelike arms couldn't get me a full field of view via 2.5-8x Leupie...................

ShootOne...IIRC, these are the lows talleys...Others can chime in, but in the Talley Lites, the lows are a little taller than most.. I can see if I still have the package or I can measure and let you know for sure.. I'll check when I get home..

Stick, George's 243 does appear to be impressive to say the least.. I'll bet your guess on the 22 is the magic...dims some heavy bullets..

HBB,
Thanks. The recoil in the 6mm BRX isn't bad at all, it just snaps up a bit. I had a Contender in 223 and it doesn't seem much different. Very interesting, now I have something else for I want it but can't afford it wish list--a 6BR Handgun. My dad has killed several deer with a Contender in .223. It works very well when you put a 52 grain Hp in a whitetail's lungs. The only thing I've ever whacked with one of the big single shot handguns is a couple of groundhogs with an XP 100 in .221 FB and a pair of my eyeglasses to the scope of my dad's .223 Contender Never crawl up on a Contender before you squeeze the trigger. IT was a very painful and expensive lesson. HBB

Hbb,
I'm hoping to run some 90-100 gr premium bullets for deer this year. Assuming they come out the end quick enough. The BRX is supposed to add ~100fps, we'll see.
Haven't got whacked with one yet, it's probably just a matter of time.

I hope so.
I haven't gotten a chance to run it through a chronograph yet, so I'm hoping it spits them out.
I've gotten the barrel broken in and some brass formed, but that's about it. So far, with my mediocre handgun skills, I've gotten 3/4" 5-shot groups with 107 gr Sierra's. Maybe with some practice, it'll get better.
I really like the model 7 you worked up, that should swing pretty easy.

Whooahh to the XP, and others. My 20 BR XP WILL be taking spot and stalk coyotes to intermediate range this next fur season with a 3-9X PFI rapid reticle scope. This 1 replaces my old standby 17 MIV XP fur getter.
I use the 4.5-14X Leup. LR on my breaked Savage Striker 243 WSSM just fine with a full FOV even with the 115 DTAC.

SScoyote,
Thanks, I've seen some of the work you and XP Hunter have done, that's just plain insane. Just coming out to watch you guys at the Bower shoot would be a hoot.
I'm not a real big fan of brakes (handguns are loud enough as is! ), so I may try some different holding techniques to see if I can tame the light recoil it has in order to put a rifle scope on it.

I tell ya' Sunny-- i'm not sure if breaked handguns are a Godsend or a Nightmare-- since u really can't shoot them without hearing protection. Could be good though-- they've taught me to rethink hearing protection while shooting ALWAYS now. I don't wanna end up like some guys i know that can hardly have a normal conversation anymore. Seems like coming up with an efficient hearing protection system is the big challenge these days, without having to spend big bucks. BTW, is this u Mikee???

Shooting at the range isn't bad with decent ear muffs, but lighting one off while deer hunting will get your attention. In WI, our season is only 9 days and with all the pressure most shots don't allow you the chance to do anything more than aim.
So what's everyone else using for powder with the heavier bullets in the 6 BR? I've got Varget and VN-135, just wondering if anyone's had luck with others.
