I need to know what the book maximum load and speed for H4350 is, if anyone has the latest Barnes manual.

.243 or .257 ? Cartridge?

Barnes sez use TSX data but also lists TTSX data (at least for the 243).

If I remember right the Barnes #4 doesn't list a load for H4350 or IMR 4350 and 80 grain TTSXs. One day when I was playing with some RL-22 and 100 grain TSXs I worked up some 80s with the RL-22 and quit not far over 3600. This was with a long barreled gun with a pretty long throat. Were I going to shoot them and go looking for the best load for the 80s I would start with Varget, and look for about 3600-3650 for top end with somewhere between 47 and 48 grains of Varget. Inside 400 yards I would think they'd get Bambi's attention pretty good. I know 80/85 grain TSX/TTSXs out of .243s around 3200 will shred the insides to red soup at 150 or so, and can penetrate more than 30 inches of deer.

Checked Load Data for you. Barnes does not list H-4350 for the 80gr TSX. This is from Barnes #3
75 Barnes Solid Hodgdon H-4350 51.0 3,296
75 Barnes Solid Hodgdon H-4350 55.0 3,555

90 Barnes XBT or Solid Hodgdon H-4350 48.5 3,141
90 Barnes XBT or Solid Hodgdon H-4350 52.5 3,400

From Barnes #4
80 Barnes TTSX BT Hodgdon H-4831sc 57.0 3396
80 Barnes TTSX BT Hodgdon H-4831sc 62.0 3656

80 Barnes TTSX BT Hodgdon Hybrid 100V 52.5 3532
80 Barnes TTSX BT Hodgdon Hybrid 100V 57.5 3814

Q/L shows you could go to 57.5 with H-4350 for 3592.

Hope it helps. Mike

Varget is too fast. Barnes website says:

25-06 80 gr TTSX
62 gr H4831 SC 3556 24" or
Hybrid 100V 57.5 3814 (both max)

If you have a l-o-n-g barrel like my 1890 WY Centenial 28" with the weird 1 in 13" twist, 7828 can really get it rolling. Speed Goats beware!

I'm shooting a 22 inch barrel, I had it up to 56 grains @ 3492, but got ejector marks. Backed off to 55 grains @ 3443 ejector marks went away. Got a 3/4 group at 50 yards, but my glasses need changed and I might have flinched a little. that is only one 3 shot group so the jury is still out. I might have to look into that hybrid. Is that a ball powder?

MIght try Ramshot Hunter. I'm giving it a go with the 80 TTSX in my 257 Roberts, anticipating the muzzle velocity will be about 3,400 fps with 22" barrel.

H100V is stick powder, but finer than imr 4350 and RL 19.

I know you are looking at 80 gr TTSX's.....but just an FYI, I shoot 100 gr TTSX's from my 25-06. I use 61.5gr Retumbo and it goes 3300fps and will group 5/8". Just an other option if your interested.

I would rather shoot the 100's but my rifle has a slow twist.

I know this is an old thread but just bought a 25-06 and I have some of these 80 grain TTSX on hand that I'd like to try in it. However, I don't have the newest edition of the Barnes manual with the ttsx load data. Anybody played around with these much in a 25-06 over the last couple of years and want to share some favorite loads? I have lots of IMR4350 and RL22 on hand but I also have a good many other different powders available including H4831sc which also seems to be a popular 25-06 powder.

Thanks in advance.
