Walmart just raised their prices of the WWB of 40 rnd value packs of 55 gr FMJ from 7.73 to 9.98!
For $5 a box of 20 I can get some premium5.56 pressure rounds instead of the plinking stuff.
guess i won't be getting any more of that stuff...
too bad though...

I feel your pain!!!
Midway raised the price of Black Hills blue box (reman) 223 60g V-max from $18/50 to $22/50. My 2 1:9 twist uppers love the stuff, 'yotes don't.
I knew I should have bought another 500 rounds last year.

This gas price thing is screwing us all to heck. The oil companies are there and deserve a beating. Can ya tell I'm upset a bit? How is anyone to afford anything right now in reality? Sure that ammo won't kill you, but the increases are attached to everything. Especially anything made of petro. We have Iraq and can't even get any help there.....

Remember Federal has (or at least had) brass that was unusable to reload unless you loaded it really mild 1 time and by then the primer pockets were gone. May have changed by now. I've given more than a few buckets up pickup FC223 brass to the guard shooters to turn in for ammo allotments instead of saving it like I do the LC( which is now made by FC but to LC specs which should mean LC is still ok...)

With ammo so much cheaper when ordered online, I don't see why anyone would buy at Wally World anyway.

Due to energy cost increases.
Nitrocellulose, and Brass forming production dosn't come without heat.
Heat means fire.
Fire means having Fuel.
Our Current War involves Fuel.
Prices accross the board will be going up.
It is to be expected.

Have you guys looked at metal prices lately......it isn't high oil prices that are driving up the cost of ammo and components!
Do a little research and see how much raw material China is buying these days!!!!

Chinas purchases have gone up and down the last few years depending on when you look. But I agree its a combo of a lot of things.
Of which, salary is the one that won't keep up or come close to keeping up. I"m loosing money at the rate its going.... Good thing I had to make up my mind and had to quit competitive shooting at the tune of barrels and 8+K rounds a year(with wife that doubled....)

Check out copper prices at $2.47/lb and you can see, in addition to oil/fuel prices, why everything made with or transported by commodities is going up in price. Last year copper was $1.49/lb, it's gone up nearly a dollar. Fuel prices, both diesel and gasoline are going to go to over $3.00/G due to new congressional mandates being implemented this year. The fuel is our own fault this time, due to reformulations using ethanol vice MTBE in gasoline, and lower sulphur diesel. We have met the enemy, and he is us.

Gee, guess I can't kill the enemy this time. Friggin regs.... still wondering how the heck everyone pays for this large a hit across the boards!! We are having a heck of a time simply making it. Its gonna boil down to doing nothing extra soon enough and then may as well be in socialism again..... Ooops I'm whining again....

I wonder how high the 204 ammo is going to go? I cannot understand how the Win white box for 223 and 22-250 is so much cheaper than the same stuff in 204.

Economy of scale. They produce alot more of .223 and .22-250 than .204. Once the .204 gets as popular as the other two, and they produce more, the price will come down, all other things being equal.

I am wondering if the 204 is starting to fizzle yet? I bought one, and it is on par with my 223AI in performance. So really, it is not much better than a standard 223 loaded with 40's or less. I hope it gains popularity. I handload for all my guns but my 223 because factory is so cheap it is not worth it to me.
