I think he is busy with his sons playing ball and living life. I like to think he will return with good things when time allows.

Seriously sad news to hear Pat might not be back. It's now a pretty long list of great folks that are no longer posting here anymore.

I am seriously out of the loop, any chance someone could fill me in? If he is gone from the 'fire (and I hope that's what you mean) I will miss his posts very much.

It will be a real shame if a bunch of idiots have run Pat off.

I hope this is not the case.

I don't think the idiots screwed with Pat much- On the rare occasion that they did, he seemed to brush them off with impunity.

I would too, he is a very experienced, knowledgeable guy with a lot of realtime in the mountains, even, I understand, guided in Canada's northern territories?

I may be in error about that as I would think that it is against the "regs" for foreign nationals to guide in those Canadian jurisdictions, just as it is here in BC.

But, he certainly knows his stuff and I find his input very useful and hope he is OK and just taking a "time out".

On that note, does anyone know where "Dober" and also "Brad" have gone, I have not seen a post by either of those two gentlemen for a couple of months?

It is a bloody shame when a few, self-aggrandizing and/or obviously emotionally disturbed persons here can/do make the entire site so "toxic" that some of the best members decide to leave.

One of my closest friends, a fine shot, very capable rifle builder and a guy with a LOT of BC-Canada, bush experience, decided last year that he was so tired of the never-ending personal attacks that he would no longer participate here and this is a REAL LOSS to all of us who enjoy most of what Rick kindly provides.

I just hope that "Scenar" has not made the same decision.

Sometime I think we all really need a vacation from the campfire...

Sure changed a lot since I first joined in 2004...

Pat and Dober were definitely Two Very Fine Gentlemen....

Then of course the types that chase them away, are the same ones that use the excuse that if you don't put up with their key board antics, then you aren't "macho" enough, and start doing all the 'homo/gay' references and accusations... like one of our argumentative residents in Alaska....

some of us can put up with it longer than others can... some move on, some just put people on ignore..

the only cost is the loss of fine folks like Pat and Dober...

Yup, I agree, I think that many of the best members DO move on and do not return and that is a loss for all here.

After awhile, even the "ignore" function does not really prevent the sort of infantile and seemingly deranged antics that some engage in here and the only alternative seems to be to just leave.

I notice that "BCBrian" has gone and several others of the sort of men I enjoy bantering and learning with are also either gone or very seldom post now.

I sometimes read "AR" as there are guys there, like Duane Weibe, who do not come here and I have noticed much the same situation there as it seems to be far less active and is just the "same old, same old" gang repeating the same stuff, "ad infinitum".

Well, that's me, again, hope all is well with "Scenar".

I had PM'ed him a while ago and he described a situation that precluded him from posting on here.

While I think it is a HUGE loss for the Campfire, I can completely understand his decision.

Beyond that, I'm sure he would prefer us not discussing his personal business on a public forum.

I know I'll miss seeing him on here daily. I always looked forward to seeing his pictures and reading his posts. However, I think he's making the right decision.

Pat is the real deal. There are very few people I really take to heart what they have to say. He is one of the very few. He has been there, done that, and then some. It sure is a shame that all these internet hero's can run somebody with as much knowledge and experience as him off. Sad.

Seems lots of folks stopped posting after the whole GregR FUBAR situation...not that I blame them. There was a lot of ridiculous BS speculation going on there.

The exception is Brad...(not concerning the GregR deal) I always saw him as a hypocritical jackass who couldn't read between the lines and see why so many folks despised him.

Dober and Scenar are however, great losses for everyone here.

I still talk to Dober on occasion. I believe he really got sick of the personal attacks, lack if respect and the number of idiots populating the campfire lately.
I really hope both Dober and Pat come back. As for Brad. I suspect he is just busy as he is building a house solo and he is also a home builder so summer is his busy time.

Well, I don't know who did or did not do what to whom, but, I have certainly witnessed many and totally uncalled for personal attacks here. I realize that those who do this are demonstrating certain aspects of their own mental health issues and after becoming familiar with the way such internet "commandos" behave, came to realize that reacting to such behaviour is both a waste of time and energy and also tends to encourage such essentially deranged behaviour...so, why bother?

Websites of this type CAN be of enormous value to hunters/shooters of ALL levels of experience and accomplishment, but, most of them seem to attract persons who obviously suffer from major "borderline personaliy disorder" and, after awhile, dealing with the rants of such individuals becomes simply not worth any effort.

I dunno what the answer to this issue may be, strict "moderation" requires a genuinely dispassionate and equitable person to make it work for all and then a site so administrated tends to lose it's originality and becomes just another boring boastfest or things continue as they have been here and all too often, some of the best contributors just leave....well, seems that is happening more frequently now.

The anonymity of the internet allows for some poor behavior without a doubt. Sift out the good stuff, don't participate in the bad stuff and the pissing contests. Waste of time and energy. I'll miss Pat and Dober, I'll read their posts elsewhere and enjoy the good parts of this forum. And as was said-I doubt anyone "ran" them anywhere...

Yeah, me too, it's a damn shame. I wouldn't even speculate on why he's not posting, it's none of my business. But from my own perspective, the stuff people post here is often over the top.

Back and forth personal insults between two or more guys don't bother me; that's their business. And frankly, when they're both knee-deep in it, neither one has a reason to complain.

But I do get tired of the racist, bigoted, misogynistic rants people post here. If anyone wants to reinforce the negative stereotypes of hunters and gun nuts, all they need to do is read the Hunter's Campfire.

Moderating this bunch could be a real chore. Rick does a good job with some of the worst trolls, but where do you draw the line?

I learn a lot from exchanges on the Fire and appreciate the input of people who really know their stuff. Unfortunately, there are a bunch of wannabes who disrupt with their attention seeking rants and personal insults.

To me, it's like eating chicken wings, you swallow the meat and spit out the bones... smile

Not everyone has the stomach for the ongoing stuff that so frequents the Fire.

We're all losers when Pat, Dober and people of that caliber and experience get fed up and take a hike.

I'm grateful to the ones who stick around, even with all those distractions.

+1

I don't know Pat as well as a lot of you guys do, but I subscribed to his knowledge and experience sharing, and he was good enough to personally help me figure some things out a couple of times. Great guy in my book...

I contacted a mutual friend of ours who I believe is pretty close to Pat after seeing this post, as I was concerned about his general well being. He assured me that Pat was doing fine, and was very busy with his boys and baseball. That's good news that I'm pleased to share with you all.

I miss Pat's posts too, but as great as this place is, it ain't life. Pat is well and going about the business of living life, as I trust we all are, and I am comforted to know that.

cheers to all,
Jeff

An awful lot can be learned here, especially after you lurk or participate long enough to figure out who has experience-based ideas and who likes to pound a keyboard. But some days the ratio of chaff to wheat is pretty discouraging. So it is especially sad when a good poster with lots of knowledge leaves, for whatever reason.

Scenar is a wealth of knowledge and I'll damn sure miss seeing his pictures and hearing his stories. He is the real deal and his posts were always among the first I'd read

Don't know why he bounced but it's none of our business so I hope everybody just respects the decision he made.

I have not met Pat, but have a good relationship with some who know him well. From their testimony, Pat is a legendary trapper, guide, hunter and marksman. Wish I lived closer and could observe him first hand.

He's the real deal and I love reading his post. I don't have much sympathy for distractors, those muddying the water for the rest of us. And those with the least to contribute are very often the ones making the most noise.

I think that a rational and equitable person here will see that the inchoate remarks I have made in past times were always in response to slurs upon Canada, or, comments about the allocation of Canada's resource wealth made by some foreigners with an agenda in this respect.

So, no, I do not feel that I have ...caused... problems, but, as with any aspect of the internet, you are free to hold whatever opinion you may wish to.

That said, once, I will not bother to respond to further such comments as this thread is not "mine" or about me and I have no wish to "hijack" it.

Funny, tho', but, whatever, not really worth a detailed reply.

So you agree with his bear wisdom... Such as shooting charging bears "under the chin" or the fact charging bears swing their heads side to side? Or perhaps his post claiming to have been there for a dozen grizzly kills compared and contrasted to the posts that say he has never hunted grizzly bears? Hard to imagine being there for a dozen kills while never having been on a grizzly hunt. Especially when contrasted with a claim to have had 200 grizzly encounters... That would represent a full 6% of his encounters ended in a dead grizzly?

Rick Bin and I stopped on the Glenn Highway last week for a brown bear hit by a vehicle. The bear was still trying to get up when we saw it. I saw another brown bear killed by a rig on Kodiak. Trying to remember another brown bear killed while not hunting them but cannot... That would be out of literally thousands of brown bear encounters.

I could go on, but anybody that ever played would sniff this out real fast...

OK, Art, yet again you deliberately misrepresent what I actually posted here several years ago, after many years of working in the BC and Alberta and Canadian northern territories. You usually do this by quoting a few words of a given post out of context as you are a liar, a coward, a phoney who "hunts" sleeping bears by the use of a motorboat cruising among the beaches of Alaskan islands and your assertions of shooting ...charging bears off my boot tops... are pure Hollywood fantasy or just outright posturing.

The TRUTH is that I have posted that I have had, in my entire life about SIXTY Grizzly encounters over about a half century....I have REPEATEDLY said this and ONLY this, you pathetic, lying, cowardly azzhole [bleep].

I posted that I have been at the scene of about a DOZEN Grizzly kills, hardly surprising, considering I actually WORKED for the agencies concerned with managing BC-Alberta's forest and wildlife-fisheries resources. I have NEVER said that I had 200 GRIZZLY encounters, you are LYING here as you so often do and what I said is that, including my own several dozen game animals killed, I have been involved in ABOUT 200 kills of big game....again, hardly surprising, given my former occupation and where I was born, raised and lived.

You seem unable to READ and do not write or spell correct English and yet, I recall you chiding a Canadian here for his spelling while making THREE spelling errors in that ignorant and typical post....what a LITTLE bullsh!t artist you really are, eh, with your constant attacks on others to make you appear as some sort of "guru" or maybe a latter-day "Davy Crockett", how amusing.

I DID point out that WHEN a bear approaches one, they often move their heads and in a side to side manner....do you dispute this?

I DID state that IF I were to shoot a bear approaching I would aim under his chin and I was remembering an incident in the late 1960s, in the East Kootenays, where I had one approach me from a hill and he was higher than I was.....so, the shot WOULD have been INTO the center of his chest from that position as anyone, other than a lying and phoney baglicker like you would understand.

I admit, I SHOULD have clarified that, but, most of us here do not spend every waking moment on the net and make over five posts EVERY day for many years, WHILE claiming to be an active "outdoorsman". I am retired and I have lots of time and I have never come close to your total of posts in all of the forums I checked out.

This issue is NOT about Grizzlies, it IS about two major issues, the first is your serious mental problem where you suddenly attack others here for no reason other than to make you look like an "authority"...and, just your drivel about leather boots has shown me that you actually KNOW VERY LITTLE and have little REAL experience other than on your boat.

The other issue, is that you are one of a particular type of, thankfully, fairly rare American and you REALLY don't like Canadian nationalists, like me, who WILL control OUR resources and very likely will soon BAN guys like YOU from any access to these in OUR country. Your comments about environmental issues are simply ludicrous, you are a boat operator and I bet that you have never spent even one full week alone in the mountains ans never will.

So, perhaps, you may succeed in having me "banned" from here, that is unfortunate, but, get one thing straight in your deranged and dishonest mind, you azzhole, nothing you can post here, lies though they are and cowardly uses of your friendship with Ric, as they also are, will EVER make you into a man worth spending five minutes with in the mountains.

Anytime,Art, BIG GUY, loud mouth, liar, coward and total waste of skin, that you are in Vancouver, DO look me up and I will be HAPPY to meet in person and we shall SEE what you have to say, other than "boo, hoo, hoo" like the overgrown infant that you are.

Sorry, Ric, but, enough is enough!

Wow!!!

Do you really want me to search your posts? It is easy and it will show exactly what I posted from your posts, sans ANY semblance of misrepresentation. Remember too, that you have called me a number of racist names, without provocation... You even included my mother after knowing what the situation is. I think very poorly of you on every level. So if you want to express more xenophobic trash have at it. I can use solid facts directly from your posts to show where the farce sits.

https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...h/true/Re_Bear_Backup_Pistol#Post1739356

Notice in the above posts I was quite polite to you, in spite of the incredibly funny visual of a Smurf shooting a bear under the chin. Take a look at a picture of any broadside bear and visualize where a shot under the chin will go. To try to use a single example now of a bear you once saw is "special."

This is also the thread where you say charging bears swing their heads back and forth. I say you are absolutely clueless about bear behavior based on that statement. I have seen many false charges where bears swung their heads back and forth. I look at that as reason to not shoot them.

You have a problem with using a boat as a base camp for bear hunting!?!?!?! That is funny! Tell that to the more than dozen members here at the fire that have been on exactly that sort of hunt with me. Actually, far more than a dozen. It does not change the need to climb the mountain as Rick, Muley Stalker, and I did nine years ago when we shot a Kodiak bear. We anchored behind a significant ridge and came over the ridge from behind the bear and found it bedded at 24 yards. I fail to see the reason for shame in the kill or stalk, or anything else.

If you are suggesting my son did something wrong on his first Kodiak bear you are even lower than I thought possible...

I would be happy to provide witnesses with names and numbers if you care to challenge anything I have posted, ever. period.

You do get credit for understanding what a joke bear spray is...

There are more than enough folks here that have been with me around bears to feel pretty comfortable with saying what I know about bears.

Finding your claim to 200 grizzly encounters amusing to say the least... especially now that you are saying just 60. Here is an entire paragraph, part of a post which I found very funny at the time:
"Many people seem to worry about bears far more than is realistic and I would just relax and enjoy your trip. Last year alone, I encountered about 30 bears in remote parts of B.C. and Alberta and not ONE of them demonstrated aggression toward me. My partner and I went to Bella Coola from "the Puddle" one day and back to "100 mile an hour house" and saw about a dozen sleepy summer Yogis that day; they were all very calm and easy-going. If, you can't get a gun or spray, carry a light axe on your bike and a big knife ain't a bad idea, let those who have never been in Grizzly country snicker, but, I would prefer these tools to bearspray."

In 40 years you saw 200... errrr 60 grizzly bears... Give me a minute to find your various claims... Should not be long... Either number is incredibly low for claiming ANY level of expertise with grizzlies.

Here is a direct quote from one of your posts way back when:
"I have to agree with SD, there simply are not enough Grizzlies anywhere except in certain parts of Alaska and BC plus an area of Siberia for anyone to gain the level of experience that so many from the western US claim to have."

Begs the question of where you sit in the bear specialization spectrum...

Wow... going with the "[bleep]" shouting and name-calling is really mature and makes you look just like what you are accusing everybody else of being. You cannot defend your claims or your real background so this is your only response?

So you have been to a dozen kills but have only seen 60 grizzlies now? Makes the math even tougher to accept, rather than the other way around. I will gladly cede an error on my part that I made a mistake on the 200. I did not, but I will give that to you.

But here is another gem from your keyboard:
However, I would/will shoot and kill ANY bear that shows agression toward me, regardless of whatever the law states and one growl of flattened ears plus a sideways stance will get a .338 slug fro me, right quick.

https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...e_How_to_conduct_yourself_in_#Post904998

Problem is, bears getting ready to come do not make a noise. Larry Aumiller ran the Brooks Camp bear viewing camp for ADF&G for many years. He saw a lot of bears over those many years. So, right after you made that statement I asked him at coffee one morning what he thought of it. He laughed... You got the ears right, hint.

And you are not against giving advise about killing grizzly bears though you never have...
"Grizzlies are also capable of absorbing bullets like a truck tire and STILL coming at you with the ability to kill you horribly. This situation is often snickered at by those who live in suburbia and base their opinions on "Outdoor Life" articles, such wannabes will even mock people on 'net forums who actually live, work and recreate in Grizzly country. However, those with extensive field experience in such country do not take these bears lightly and tend to use rifles that are capable of stopping them before they can get to you."
https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...e_Judging_relative_killing_po#Post899288

I live very close to a major ski resort... it does not give me an urge to tell people how to ski really steep slopes because I do not do that stuff...

Sorry, but the level of effort I put into internet post editing is not all that high. When writing for publication I do edit and tend to submit very clean copy. And that has what to do with your goofy bear claims?

You did not say when a bear approaches... as can be plainly read in the linked post you were talking specifically about charging bears moving their heads side to side. Surprise! They don't. Unless they are bluffing...

You did not state that shooting under the chin was only applicable in steep uphills... you used it as general advice for charging bears. I made nothing up. It is all there in the archives.

Baglicker? Does that really make you the better bear expert to call me that?

If I post pictures of the hunt with me in them it does kinda make it look like I was there, doesn't it?

You have repeatedly posted that I was dead on with leather dressing... What did you learn that made you change your mind? Surely you do not disagree with my posts?

My boat seems to bother you quite a bit. Is that jealousy?

You really got on a roll here! Now I am anti-Canadian? Don't you remember the nasty things you said about me and my French-Canadian-Indian mother?

Please show me ANY lie I made in any of this or any other post. There are plenty of pictures I have posted here of my times in the mountains. And again, there have been a number of campfire folks that have been with me on multiple trips into said mountains. But I have zero desire to rein in your fantasies.

I still have that PM you sent a while back... remember that? Pretty pathetic on your part...

BTW, Rick would not ban you for a simple disagreement. You would have to do a bunch of really bad stuff to get the boot. I for one would never want you banned. I consider a significant number of your posts high comedy.

Ahhh,I see. More partial quotes, misunderstanding of VERY simple and truthful comments and whining about my previous comments.

Frankly, I don't recall EVERY comment that I may have made to and about you, but, get one thing straight. I am TELLING you that YOU are a LIAR, a COWARD and a PHONEY......so?

ONE correction, that is that, as anyone with an "I.Q." even slightly larger than his shoe size would understand, I referred, in different posts to BEARS in TOTAL and to GRIZZLIES, in PARTICULAR. Even a total imbecile and dishonest slimeball like you SHOULD be able to SEE that, so, again, you are twisting what I posted to advance your cowardly and deranged agenda. You have done this with others, here and it is an example of your personal emotional distress.

PM? I TRIED to see if I could solve whatever your problem is by asking you to perhaps have coffee and just laugh about all of this; I admit, I was probably wrong to do so and should just have posted the details here and then told you to get a life and act like a mature man.....but, wellllllll.

As I have repeatedly made clear here, again, your stubborn and no longer often applicable method of treating leather IS fine, BUT, NOW, VERY FEW boots are made, even highend customs, with LEATHER toecaps and counters. These are NOW almost exclusively a type of "thermo-formed" plastic and HEAT WILL WARP these and RUIN your boots. This, is WHY almost every actual bootmaker suggests using, as I do, OBENAUF'S and it WORKS.

Now, while you can misrepresent anything I may choose to post here to anyone whom you choose to, as you appear to have done, I will correct yet another of your cheap lies. I DO NOT and have NEVER posted that I am in any sense an ...expert... on ANY aspect of wilderness life, especially bears. I DO offer my opinions, based on specific actual experience, over a long period and that is ALL.

So, as one of your other "targets" told you recently, BIG GUY, get a life and stop with your infantile, neurotic attacks here on others. I have NEVER said that you have not hunted bears, I very specifically commented on your obvious lack of SOLO wilderness experience and that fact that you are a LIAR and a COWARD.

Now, do your worst, your posturing makes me just rock with laughter. As someone quite voluntarily PMed me, recently, "SD is as full of crap as an impacted Hereford bull"...and,sadly, as while you are essentially illiterate, you are not stupid and could become a real asset here IF you obtained the psychiatric assistance that you obviously require.....

So, it is about 60 Grizzly encounters and about 200 bears in total....really simple, honest and now you can think of some other distortion of my posts of several years ago to attempt to harass me with, but, I am not going to waste more time on you here.

One further point here and my apologies to the "OP" for finally reacting to the frequent provocation by the above and making my last two posts, which I will NOT take further on this thread.

I think that it would be far more appropriate and even perhaps "productive" if there were a specific section here, maybe the "Fightin' Forum" for those who seem to love badgering and berating others.

Then, threads such as this would not be so often "hijacked" and those with certain "issues" would be able to carry on their delusional fights and leave everyone else out of it.

Well, we all have a good example as to why decent people wander off.

I've never witnessed Kutenay attack someone, only defend himself from an attack. But then, I've only been around a couple years if that.

Several years ago, here, there were some quite harsh exchanges of comments between some posters and I in which I admit, I lost my cool and was quite angry in some of my responses.

I then retracted some of my comments and choose to leave as I decided that such behaviour is not how I wish to live. Some 4 or more years later, I chose to return and almost all of my time here since has been very enjoyable and instructive.

If, I COULD change a few of the comments made years ago, well, I would, but, that is not an option and I am now simply attempting to enjoy the "Fire" for the camaraderie and friendships I have made here and to avoid crap such as the last few posts.

But, I have limits and so do others, I will not bother with further negative posts, however, who knows what else may transpire.

So, lets hope this can all end here.

I'm sure scenarshooter's just got better things to do.

If it weren't for Ray Atkinson, kutenay would hold the trophy for All Time 24hr Campfire Douche Bag.

Separating the wheat from the chaff isn't too difficult.

The above quotes are all from just one post of yours. I do not think I need to add a thing. Characterizing the PM you sent me as an invitation to coffee is really sad. It was actually a gloat about a friend of yours, by your claims, that wanted to hire you as a bear guru. And he posts here. You called me names there, too.

Reconcile your words and actions with the facts and please, give me a single example of a lie in any of my posts. Calling me a liar and being completely unable to show an instance of lying makes your name-calling look a little weak. Projection is the word a shrink would use.

I will be patient while you go find one of those myriad lies you are accusing me of. Also, please show me any post I have made to you where I called you any names.

Uhhh... You missed the post above? "Defending" by going on a rampage of name calling absolutely unrelated to the discussion is what?

Question my bear or mountain experience all you want, but cite examples without calling me names... I gave very specific quotes to show where the knowledge and experience are lacking. I stand by them without hesitation.

Yup, you certainly have seen a bunch of uncalled for personal attacks... Lots of them under the pen-name kutenay... or are you forgetting those? Will take you just a second to find them if you go looking...

And you have no room to point fingers, as you have caused your share of problems on the Fire yourself!

Name one.

Wow or Holy Cow,the forum is off and running again.Insults and personal attacks abound.......

Here is a hint from someone who knows....Call anyone any name you want/slam there wives and kids/call them queers but never ever question what a gunwriter post......

Don't ask how I know that. grin

Yes,Pat is a good guy and I wish him the best at whatever he does or chooses as well as Dober but life goes on and the net is what it is..The net/nothing more...

Haha! Yet another episode of older men with waning testosterone. All we need now is for someone to issue a long post as to why they're quitting the campfire, threaten a lawsuit, ask for a wrastling match, or just generally act like a b!tch. Apparantly Pat is busy, or he moved on to another website, either way he did his thing and didn't whine like a little girl about why he was going to leave the fire. Hope to see him back some time soon.

Ssig888, you just served up a perfect example of why it is significant that Scenarshooter left.
There are some people here that appreciated Scenarshooter's intelligent posts that were based on experience and presented without arrogance, instead of having to put up with childish, vulgar and completely worthless posts like yours.

I know it's a free country and someone else's forum. But why do so many posters feel they have to clutter up every post with vulgarity?

Royce, speculating someone's(member/user name) whereabouts is just silly IMO. Maybe he's fishing, scouting or partying in Vegas. Nothing against Scenar member, probably just out doing his thing. Like I said, user names come & go on the Internet.

Travis;
Happy Father's Day to you sir, I trust this finds you and your children doing acceptably well on your side of the medicine line.

Regarding your thoughts on the thread, I'm reminded of Roscoe Lee Brown's line in "The Cowboys" when he said, "If it isn't, it oughta be"

Again all the best to you and your family today Travis.

Dwayne.

PS.

If any of you all run into Pat either in person or on the 'net and you feel so inclined, please send him my best wishes.

Thanks Dwayne. Happy Father's Day to you.

I only see Pat at the Icebreaker, but if I see him otherwise I'll tell him.

Kids took me to see Man of Steel. I look pretty good on the big screen...

The one post in this thread I really like and was searching for, was the one when someone said he is in fact doing fine and just stepped away from the fire. That is all I wanted to know, that he and his family were healthy and there were no tragic events associated with it. Very happy to hear that.

I cant keep up with the good guys and bad guys on here so much. When people get in a hair-pulling, little-girl screaming match on here, I pretty much put them both in the same bucket, with few exceptions.

Well, except when it involves Travis. Then I know who the beyotch is! GFY Travis! grin You do have a way of summing up a thread!

I will miss Pat and hope he comes back around. And I like to read what Kutenay has to say once I figured out how to take him.

Just for the record I'm the one who offered to fly to Canada to meet Kute in the Boxing ring, but I came to my senses and retracted my offer.

I would like to hunt with Kute or Pat or Dober, and that's about best compliment a fellow can give. Cause life's to short to hunt with people you don't enjoy.

+1 on that Oldslowdog, enjoyed all his posts cause he is the real deal not a wanna be, his writing and experience should tell anyone that and meeting him in person only confirms what you know instinctively. He has left but is still showing the way to act and behave, yet not put up with by being around it ...its a pretty good hint. Funny how you can put a bunch of guys from all over the country into the same hunting lodge and they all act like the best of friends (even though they don't know each other) and respect each other but if you put a bunch of hunters on the same hunting forum together they hate each other and want to kill each other? confused

Agreed. I picked up a lot from reading Scenar and Dober. But without moderation this is just going to keep happening. Way too many keyboard commandos on this forum.

In a loosely moderated Forum, civility can become a casualty.

I'm grateful for the Fire contributors who stick with it, but understand how some may weary of the BS and move on to greener pastures.

The quality of the Fire suffers when posters like Pat throw in the towel.

Hope he comes back.

IMHO,

i've had a few pm's asking about pat, and what he's been up to. with that in mind, i thought it best to make a small post.

i called him this am and we visited for about 45 minutes. we had to cut the call short as he was off to the boy's baseball practice.

he called me back this afternoon and we talked for 3 1/2 hours about all the things that interest us. i told him about this thread, and folks asking about his whereabouts. he's doing great, and i'm sure some of you will hear from him somewhere along the line...

i equate pat to someone like bruce lee or alex lowe--they take something as far as a man can go with it--and then go twice as far. people of this caliber and commitment only come along about once every hundred years or so and "shake things up a little" with their extraordinary talents and abilities: you can't help but notice it when it's there--and you can't help but miss it when it's not.

the most important thing for each person is to "go forth and experience these things for themselves--to the best of one's ability"...

Scenarshooter is a short-man idiot.

Tell him to PM me, we can prove it.......quickly.

Scenarshooter told me I had no business commenting on the 243 for elk........because Iowa didn't even allow rifle for deer season.

Then, he tucked tail before even filling out a hurt feelings report.

Right after he did that exciting report on a new Leupold scope.

Hogpilers don't respond well to resistance.

What's funny is this Werner loser had to dig back 11 years to find something to whine about. Says alot more about him than scenarshooter, who is very well respected and rightfully so.

How much land did you buy with hard--earned dollars? You are virtually worthless. Worthless beyond belief! Text me, Schmuck!

That TFF was scenarshooters trademark......you must know.

I will make this offer today. If your under-intelligent scenar shooter makes a post this week........I will never read or post here again.
Is that fair?

This place is great!

Pat is well and going about the business of living life, as I trust we all are, and I am comforted to know that.

cheers to all,
Jeff

Attention whore/troll.
Trolls must have way too much time on their hands to actually be productive.

Seems they gotta knock those who are productive.

Ouch.......feels like the hogpilers are piling on once again.

What pics would you like? Deer?

Wide angle shots?

Scenarshooter was short, more ways than one likely.

A simpleton, like so many here.

My offer stands......

JGRaider inherited everything. He earned virtually nothing.

He's a twit.

JFC! You are still pissing on about something that was said 3 years ago? You were wrong then (a .243 is more than adequate for elk) and you are wrong now (calling out people who you obviously know nothing about).

Put the bottle down, take your meds, and step away from the keyboard.

How many patents have you ever had?

So……..he’s stopped 113 hearts for 2025.

Very impressive……for a short man wimp. I’ll beat that by 10X this year.

Have him post here………and I will go away forever.

Short men can rule again.

Greenhorn can be desirable to attractive women again.

Ok, not really……ever.

You would……if we actually met face to face.

If scenarshooter, muledeer, mathman, greenhorn, BuzzH, or SLM would kindly send their addresses……..via PM……..I could possibly impress them with my dominance……..face to face.

I have the time.

Ranch inheritors are not tough to read.

Your posts with modern firearms are tough to digest.

You should post bunny pics with a 39A with a Cherokee feather tied on a string to the ring.

The modern arms make you look like a major league dufus.

How much shall we wager?

Please let me know. Let’s let the whole internet know the results.

What can you wager? How much are you worth?

Impress me.

TFF

JFC! You are still pissing on about something that was said 3 years ago? You were wrong then (a .243 is more than adequate for elk) and you are wrong now (calling out people who you obviously know nothing about).

Put the bottle down, take your meds, and step away from the keyboard.

Sick burn dude. I don't know what I am going to do with myself knowing that I don't compare to someone as eloquent as you.

Anytime you want to compare intellects, or hell even basic general knowledge, I am game. I will even let you choose the subject.

As for net worth, the only people I know that have to constantly tell people how much they are worth, really aren't worth much.

Yea.......Joe Biden never created anything is his political career.

J.G.BuyRaider is the Joe Biden of 24hourcampfire.

Like most all of you.

Greenhorn knocked a tatted, wooly hellhound up.
Hope he got the genetic test before he shelled out all that child support.

Thank goodness he's in California, where there are enough idiots to make him feel good about himself.

Where else is this idiocy normal?

Greenhorn knocked a tatted beef steak up, out of wedlock......and I have to defend myself?

MuleDeer cannot drift from the dinner plate to the crapper without oxygen.........and he writes likes he's Daniel Boone?

He should at least credit BigStick for his optics articles.

Beam me up, Scotty. I am stuck in a reverse universe.

Overall, seems we're losing the ones we don't need to lose, keeping the ones we could afford to lose.

So, there's the OP's answer in one sentence.

Any thread where 25% of the replies is by one person adding nothing but bluster to the knowledge base is a bit funny yet sad. No button here for IGNORE? This thread is worthless including for a scintilla of humor. Well, time to go to the local tavern and kick some more biker dudes in the nards and then hitchhike home to type in 10,000 words spread across a couple hundred posts in some rando meaningless thread here so I can clearly develop my brand as an up and coming blowhard here willing to wade in to any and all threads. Repetitiveness makes for easy patterning. A trainee will be enough. Sweet dreams.

Mike, I don’t know all on your”diss” list, but from what I do know about some of them, you could be biting off way more than you can chew.

What if one has certain “skills” you know nothing about, and by design. Where he’s coming from, that’s a prerequisite.

Offering a one on one hostile encounter, not too bright, especially if you end up with the wrong one. And I’m not saying who. It’s your rodeo. I’ll let you pick the bull you think you wanna ride.

Them that talk, talk. Them that do, do, and they don’t generally talk a lot.

I would like the popcorn concessions.

I accept your challenge.

I plan to attend the Minnesota fishing opener......then off to Wyoming for shed hunting, prairie dogs, and trout fishing.

I can happily travel your way after that.

I will have all the equipment required to turn this into a 'legal' sporting event.

I can assure you, we will have fun.

Please make sure your address is correct, lest the whole internet view you as a limp-wristed wimp.

Best part, all 24hour folks are invited to attend.

I will announce here my time of arrival. Look forward to it.

Word to wise......start working out, quickly.

JG.Byrider has posted way too much here.

Over 100,000 posts between here and AR.

Multiple reasons.....

1.He has virtually no respect locally.

2.His offspring hates him.

3.He is worth nothing without inheritance.

4.His ex-wives realized he is nothing after the honeymoon.

There in only one reason washed-up, ancient, retirement-aged, gun writers keep on writing cookbooks.

They are financially stupid.

Like the majority here.

This place is the best.

Shame I will be leaving, when scenarshooter posts.

In all of his expertise.......he told me rifles were not even legal in Iowa.

And after I've legally taken Iowa deer with the 270, 280, 30-06, 450BowelMovement, 358w, and 35whelen.

Correct.

To the thread in general, there is a difference between being 'run off' and having better things to do with your time.

I’ve been here since 2002. A while back I had to start a new log in as my last one locked me out.

This place has changed dramatically and I don’t visit near as often as I used to. And honestly I don’t miss it much. I suppose many feel the same way. There were some very knowledgeable people that used to post on here and I learned a lot from them. Some have died, some have moved on. The BS gets old after a while.
