I just bought a rapid z conquest 4.5-14-44. It has the rapid z 800 reticle. My question is not about "turrets vs the rapid z" but rather ...how close have you found the rapid z reticle to match the zeiss calculator projections for you're specific load.
I know I will need to verify for myself but am just wondering what others experience has been. Thanks for any feedback.

I have a 3x9x50 Ziess with the Z600 and am amazed at how much on the money it is in real time. 200, 400 and 700, all I tried it at yesterday are right on.

The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

Have a 3.5-10 Ziess RZ 800 on my custom 338-378, it's dead nuts on out to 800 with the 300 gr Accubonds at 3000 fps.

Eliminated a lot of spinning turrets and other BS, dont figure I can hold any better in a hunting situation to shoot any farther than that.

I dont haul a camera crew, sleeping bags, and some dude to carry uncle buds bulls bag to shoot off of when I hunt.

Most turrets or BDC's are only as accurate as your imputs.

I prefer to get an exact long range zero, like 600 or even 1K, and not fret over exact close range zeros.

Very close! I killed a very nice NE buck at just short of five hundred yards last Fall with it. My problem (if it is one) with the Zeiss Z-Plex/calculator system is optimum accuracy with the reticle may not be at maximum power with your scope. Because the calculator suggested optimum power for optimum accuracy for my bullet and the elevation I hunted at was 6x, that's what I took the shot with. Counter intuitive when your scope goes to 9x. Nevertheless, the hit was, as they say, spot on.

This is where the Swarov Z-series has it over Zeiss. Their BHX/BHR reticle is set up with their calculator to be optimum at the scopes's highest power.

With the Zeiss the higher the scope magnification the higher your optimum power will be.

As an example with my 4.5x14x44 conquest my setting is 12.5 to 13x depending on elevation, with my load. I checked it against a conquest 3.5x10 and it would have been around 8x which was not sufficient for my needs.

I have had very good results with the Z800.

I had an old rapid z 600 and a new z 800, as aalf said if your inputs are correct, (bc, velocity, sight height etc) the reticle with be correct. With cartridges to match the reticles its not a problem. Istead of adjusting the power of the scope to match the trajectory as the Zeiss calculator suggest, I adjust my zero to say 230-250 yards so I can just turn my scope to max power to have the reticle match my trajectory.
