H4350, you get to use a few grains less than other powders

H4350 is top choice, but I have had good results with H4831. Hunter, RL17, RL22, IMR4350. For long range competition the temp stable powders are probably best. For hunting the above powders gave me good velocity and accuracy.

I've grown to like Hunter as well as anything as it has good velocity with good accuracy. It meters so much easier than anything else.

Ditto to the H-4350, but you'll be lucky to find any right now if now is when you need it.

I've got about 10 pounds left but have already planned for a replacement with the difficulty we're having getting H-4350. I've used W-760 and RL-17 with good results.

A friend has changed from H-4350 to IMR 4350 in his 6X47 and is astounded as to how well it shoots. He's shot two 1 1/2" 600 yard groups with it. I guess there's lots of the IMR version to be had.

With that said, I planned on going with the Ramshot Hunter when I run out of the Magic H-4350 I have right now. This is on Mule Deer's recommendation. The 4350 I have has got to be the slowest burning lot made. With other lots my load is around 41.5 grains with the 140 and I hit some pressure around 42.5 grains. With the lot I have now my load is 43.6 grains. I didn't get an ejector mark till I shot 45 grains.

Looking this A.M. at the Western Powder Data site, it shows the Creedmoor with Hunter and the 140 as a 45 grain max load. Kinda the same burn as the slooow H-4350 I have now.

I haven't had to develop a load with it yet but have high expectations. Mule Deer says it's just as temperature Insensitive as the Hodgdon Extreme line. I'm looking forward to a spherical powder that meters well and has those characteristics.

65X54....

Tell us about your experience with Hunter!

rc, Not a lot different than the path you are taking. When I picked up my first 6.5cm was in a Ruger 1b there was no load data out. There was the data on the factory boxes but other than there was nothing. I took the wag from 260 loads and read what was working in those to start with. I think other than Hornady the first real data from a powder company was Western Powder and that's what got me started with the Hunter. Then JB must have been dealing with about the same thing and he noticed how well the Hunter worked for him which confirmed what I was seeing also.

Herschel, I've been using mostly Fed 210M's. If not those then plain old Rem 9 1/2's.

BTW, other powders mentioned such as the 4350's work pretty well also. I've been trying IMR 4831 a little but have not had much luck so far. The only one that I can say that I don't care for is Rel 17. Strange as others have had good luck with it.

I would stay way from the RL17. Burnt a barrel out in 1/2 the time with it

rc, with Bergers or Sierras they seem to do their best toward the upper end. I've been shooting more Berger 130's as of late but who knows, 140's might be better tomorrow.... smile
