Sweet BEAR !!!

I do not own a Weatherby but have the WM version. For a 300 Weatherby, 180-200gr Accubond or TTSX and you are set!!! For the 300Wby, 200gr bullets gets my pick.

I love 180gr AB's in my 300WM, and would consider it a great round for all NA game. Shot placement!!

24 Years ago (1989) my father took a Weatherby Mark V chambered in .300 Weatherby to the Yukon. He was shooting 180 Grain Nosler Partitions. He killed a Moose, Caribou and Grizzly (Inland) on that trip. It worked back then. Still works today also.

You sure can't tell any difference between a 300 Weatherby and a 338 Win Mag by watching them both kill animals.

I'm a big fan of the 300 WBY and wouldn't hesitate to take it on a brown bear hunt if that's what I had however, I am NOT a big fan of muzzle brakes and discourage any hunters I guide from bringing one to camp. I have used them for specialized purposes but NOT for a stand up hunting rifle.

They should only be used on hunts where everyone has plenty of time to put earplugs in and get back. I would NEVER let a kid shoot one- they are going to have too much to worry about to remember to stick ear plugs in-besides, they need to be able to hear the coach. My 2 cents.

dennis I agree....my own view is, if I need a MB,I need a smaller rifle.

The whole notion of a 300 Weatherby or 338,with or without a a brake, for a teen does not strike me as a particularly good idea. They are both cartridges for hardened, experienced riflemen, and not for kids going through the learning process.

.300 - by should be a little more of a good thing to the .300 Win. Mag. that is a bit more of a good thing to the -o6 that is a bit more of the same thing to the -08, which is what I would have my son shooting.

By the time he may have to face brownie, he will be man enough to decide on his rifle and save me the anguish.

I fully agree.

I love my .300 WBY's but they aren't for everyone. Most folks aren't going to like the noise and shooting a 200 grain partition is probably going to create a kid that flinches, even with a muzzle brake.

Heck, most grown men are flinchy shooting the .300's with anything over 180 grains.

And there isn't an animal in NA I would be afraid of shooting with a .300 WBY. But if I was committed to that attitude, then why would I need a .338 or .375.

I own a 300 Weatherby, never hunted Brown Bear with it, flattens elk pretty good. The 375 H&H 300 grain Nosler has 3797 ft./lbs. at 100 yards, the 270 grain bullet has 3505 ft./lbs. at 100 yards and a 300 Weatherby 200 grain Nosler has 3631 ft./lbs. at the same distance.
