Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

While I'm sure Alex is an extremely nice guy and I appreciate the fact that he tries to show his customers a great deal of respect, it sounds like it may be time for him to change his business practices a little.

In this day and age, I would hardly hold it against someone if they expected me to pay for a $2000 scope before they blindly sent it to me.

What financing? He ships the optics and sends you a bill for them which he expects you to pay. I bought a set of binos from him and that is exactly what he did.

I met Alex several years ago at the Eastern Outdoor show in Harrisburg, PA. He had some Leica rangefinders at a great price and I told him I had one of the "older" units which I would like to sell. He quoted me a price which was more than fair and told me to mail it to him with a note reminding him of our conversation. In a few days, I had a check for the amount agreed upon. I was impressed.

Don't be so quick to judge folks on the list. A couple of months ago I got a form email from europtic saying I was being sent to collections for not paying on a scope I bought from them over a year ago. Long story short I sent the scope back to Swarovski after I got it and they sent me a replacement and said they refund Alex. All of that happened but last year Alex's entire computer system crashed and they had no record of the credit from Swarovski. Even after I called and told them my story they could find no record with Swarovski. Alex wouldn't return my calls over several days of trying to clear things up. Finally I called Swarovski myself and gave them serial number. They quickly found the credit memo that confirmed I was not a deadbeat. After a scathing email to Europtic Alex finally called and apologized. I can buy anything I want for cost in the next year so he did OK. So don't throw everybody under the bus on that list. We don't know the other side of the story.

He sounds like a standup guy to me. Admitted he was wrong, apologized, and offered a discount. I could like that.

Yeah I've been buying from him for years. He said when the computer went down they had to go through accounts manually and found over 1million in outstanding debt. Some of it however was like my situation where they just didn't have all the info. In any case he called and apologized and tried to make things right. I'm OK with that.

Met Alex at the DSC show last year. I was impressed, as he really knows his stuff. He's not your typical retailer. The few times I've dealt with him have been first rate.
