China will do it for us. We ship galena from Missouri to China, the will ship back lead ingots to the US and look how much better the earth's environment will be and look at all the energy we will save. (Insert Sarcasm smiley face here)

Edited to add: No US jobs will be affected.

Yep , China

China is making all the light bulbs now , they got mercury & stuff in 'em. Can't be manufacturing nuthin with that nasty stuff here.

China is going to be processing American chicken & sending them back to us , guess the messicans got tired of processing chickens here.

China can't even get dog food right , what could possibly go wrong with 'em processing our chicken ?

China's gonna do it all , China's gonna OWN the world.

China has the worst pollution problems in the world and the most overbuilt urban areas.

They are due to take some big hits. Hope we can survive when it happens.

The Obama Regime is well aware of that. The Regime wants to make sure all you have is a rock to throw at a M-4 armed trooper.

Wealth production come from debt it doesn't come out of the ground so jobs are secure as long a more debt is produced.

I think the story was put out there because...... they're closing the last lead processing plant in the US. The result of the closing is debatable, but will undoubtedly hurt this country.

One scenario- Anything they can do to make us more dependent on other countries makes the whole One World Order a lot more plausible. Connect us all inter-dependently, then we all need to fly under the same banner, same police force, same money, same govt. It's treason committed by our leaders against our country.

The super rich and powerful get more so, we lower our standard of living to third world levels. Quite a few things headed this direction if you're paying attention.

Current hybrid and electric cars don't use lead-acid batteries, nor are they likely to do so in the future. Lead is even being replaced in car batteries in some high-end models where weight is a premium. It used to be that lead was used in gasoline and for plumbing, but those uses have been phased out. Even for firearms there's a growing use of copper bullets and steel shot, so I don't expect this shutdown to have a big impact.

That said, Congress is going to have to get control of the EPA at some point. The nation can't allow environmental activists to shut down vital industries and expect to compete in the world. Obviously, nothing is going to happen on that front until Obama is out of office.

As the rich get richer the poor get poorer and soon there is no middle class, and it's been that way from Biblical times. Republicans, back in the days of Theodore Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower fixed that problem with anti-trust legislation, a progressive income tax, and a high inheritance tax. All of which has fallen out of favor with current so-called conservatives, most of whom are in the poor getting poorer group.

Anti-trust legislation, progressive income tax, and high inheritance tax help the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I don't like the idea of govt bailing out private industry but in this case shutting down processing of lead ore seems stoopid. A 100 mil to upgrade the plant is a drop in the bucket compared to the billions wasted on solar energy.

Having the ability to produce lead in the USA is in our "national interest" and I'd vote in favor of a grant to keep the plant open.
