Anyone compared the 2 scopes? Looking at scoping a stainless Model 70 in 30-06 (probably 3-9x40) and I've always been impressed with Burris quality for the price. I've used a couple Fullfield II scopes before but I like the new E1 design with the power adjustment ring. This type setup would be nice on the stainless rifle to be able to use BC scope covers.

Any reason to choose anothe rscope under $200 over the E1? I say Natchez still has the Nitrex TR One on closeout but I'm not sure how they would compare.

I have a FFI on my Win 70 .30-06. It's a straight 4x. This is the second nice buck I've taken this year with it. They're good, solid scopes that you can get of FleaBay pretty cheap. A good woods scope for sure. I've been looking at the FFII E1 4.5x14 for a load development scope as a straight 4x is not the best.

I have both and like the e1 better due to the aforementioned power ring that doesn't turn the whole eyepiece. The glass seems better on the E1 too but it is also 13 yrs newer so has benefitted from some upgrades in coating technology etc.

Skip both and get the C4. It has a nice reticle with hold points for wind, an elevation turret that you can remove if you don't want to use it, and an eye piece that doesn't rotate. The 3-9 is around $260 or so.

I have both. My only issue with the E1 is that the reticle does not extend all the way to the edge of the Field Of View and so it can be a bit hard to see in very low light in the woods. Other than that one very specific case, I like it.

Edit: No, the E1 does not have a reptile.

The reticle on the E-1 is a deal killer for me. The whole eyepiece turning is a non-issue and the folks at Burris used to claim it made for a more rugged scope.

At just a little more consider the VX-1. New production VX-1's now have click adjustments and the glass has been upgraded. New VX-1's are essentially 3 year old VX-2's, but about $100 cheaper.

Does the plex reticle not go to the edge? I'm not really thinking about the new ballistic ranging reticle for this rifle.

Another one that's looking hard to pass up is the Nitrex TR One in 3-9x42. At a little over $100 it seems like a really good bargain.

E1 Plex reticle appears the same as the Fullfield II

The E1 is not the same as the FFII. Here's the E1. Edit: The C4 scope does look interesting.

Prm was referring to the standard plex reticle being the same as the FF II.

Copy. I wasn't aware the E1 came with anything other than the E1 reticle. No worries.

You can get the c4 from cabelas online right now for $199 with a free set of rings and there's a code for free shipping. I just ordered 3.

That is a good find but I'm not crazy about the reticle. I find the windage mil dots to look too busy, based on the pics I have seen. I'm a 300 yd and in shooter at game animals so a plex reticle is more than acceptable. I wonder how the glass compares to the E1?

Its actually not that busy. It is a normal duplex and the thin center section has hash marks for wind. I thought the hash marks were pretty much all the way across the sight picture, but that isn't the case.
