Is anyone running this? A friend is looking for some load data and having no luck. I'm guessing to split the difference between the 250gr and 300gr data but I'd like to hear from someone using this combo. Thanks!

personally I like my loads close to 100% of case capacity and I like the "Pmax" and "Z1" to be closer together. While I have not loaded this bullet yet I would probably eliminate H4350 based on that

I thought the same, I have run into the same thing with the .338wm and density, ran R-15 for a bit but it was less than 70% and found a case "full" of IMR 4350 was more consistent. I don't have a .338 Lapua, my friend has recently bought one, I think he's trying to make the 4350 work but it looks to me like Retumbo or H 1000 is the better answer. Thanks again.

H-1000 would be and is my powder of choice for the 338 Lapua

I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

H-1000 and MRP would be the first two powders I would try with a magnum primer (F215 or Wolf Magnum)

Retumbo is THE 338 Lapua powder (just like H1000 is THE 300 Win mag powder). Velocity, accuracy and incredible temp stability (single digit variance from -40f to +165f). Go Retumbo first and I doubt you'll go elsewhere.

Reference:

90-91.5 Retumbo
Lapua brass
300 Scenar/Berger

Half MOA give/take in a half dozen .338 Lapua rifles. 2750 +/- from 24.5" barrels.

I agree with you on this, I have also had great luck with RL25 if you get the right lot#

would never use the Hornady bullet or IMR4350 in this round.

I have to disagree with you, I have been shooting this round since 2004 and have never found Retumbo to be the best powder in any rifle or barrel. Lapua brass YES. 300gr Berger or 300gr SMK bullets (the Scenars are great for targets but have no hunting applications) H1000 or a good lot# of RL25 are the best powders for this round
