I am wondering how the accuracy of the cz training rifle compares to that of the regular cz .22 long rifles. Are these set up to accept a scope?

The big difference with the trainer is that it has the euro style drop comb stock in beech. The action and barrel are as accurate as any CZ 22.

The only variations that seem to affect accuracy for the better are the two-stage trigger on the 453, the thicker barrel on the varmint model, or the ultra lux for it's longer sight radius with open sights, the scout only uses one mounting screw (still accurate, but not as good as the others).

They are all set for scope mounting by using the 11mm dovetail cut into the top of every receiver. The tangent rear sight on the trainer requires mid-height rings, but can be removed with some instruction.

You can mount just as low if you use a scope that is short enough to sit behind the sights. Anything over 2X and you won't see the sights anyway except as a small blur at certain angles.

whats a fair price for a gun that someone bought new and never used?

are cz's the most accurate .22 under 500? Can a smith smooth the trigger out?

Some of the savages are close but I like the fit and finish of the CZ much more. The Savage just feels like a lot cheaper gun. You don't need a Smith for the trigger. The Yo-Dave trigger kit($20) will turn it into a very nice trigger in 15 minuets or you can do a poor man's trigger Job. Check out the CZ forum at www.rimfirecentral.com

I just bought one in the last week at a gunshop and paid $330+tax. I have heard higher prices. Seemed like a fair price, so I bought it.

They are as accurate as the regular CZ's.

My Savage Mark II American (with the walnut stock) does not feel cheap at all. I honestly like the look better than CZ's.

anything south of $400 seems to be a good price these days, $350 is good deal.

Trigger is an easy do-it-yourself with the Yo-dave kit.

The Savages and CZ's are not in the same league in my opinion, CZ wins every time, (and I love savages). They are the best accuracy for under $500 hands down. You can roll your dice on used stuff though, I've gotten some great used shooters for under $500.

The truth is that Savages and CZ's shoot about the same in my opinion. I think the CZ's look better. But I really like the look of the Savage Mark II Classic. The Classic looks a lot like my Remington 547.

If you like iron sights the CZ's tangent sights are hard to beat.

I agree they are excellent on the Trainer.

I have an Ultraluxe and a 453 American. The UL's sight adjustments were spot on at 50 and 100 yards. At least good enough for me to plink coke cans holding dead on.

I recently bought a trainer and hated it, wouldn't shoot anywhere near what i expected, the action was rough, and the trigger was the same. I traded it in on some optics and have never missed the thing.
Maybe i just got a bad one, or I have been spoiled by Anschutz and Cooper I guess.
It had nice iron sights and the price was right, I really wanted to like the Trainer but it was not to be..

When you install the Yo-Dave trigger kit, it smooth's the bolt a lot because the bolt is dragging on the sear(I think). That said, the action is smoother on some than others.

I don't really consider the CZ a great rifle without a little TLC, but it gets there for les than $25 and a little time. That's Ok because I don't expect the same lever of fit and finish from a rifle nearly 1/3 the price.
