Is there any interest in a Remington 700 6mm rem barrel. It's a used takeoff barrel. Idk round count but if there is some interest I'll take the barrel to my smith and have him scope it and get his opinion on the barrel.
Just let me know.

Someone should want it. 6mm Remington is almost as good as 270 Winchester. Happy thanksgiving!

I prefer 6mm Rem over ANY other caliber. I have a Model 700 in 6mm or I'd jump.

Rems .244 Remington rifles in the 70's era had a 1 in 12 twist which gunwriters of the day claimed wouldn't stabilize 100 grain bullets, although Bob Milek said he had a .244 Remington with that 1 in 12 twist that experienced no such problems.

Anyways they dropped the .244 and as far as I know every 6mm Remington they produced had a 1 in 9 twist.

Somewhere around 1970 Bob Brister wrote an article for Field & Stream titled '6 Mighty Millimeters' which resulted in my purchasing one in a Remington 700. No regrets either and still have the rifle to this day. It was in interesting read at the time to an 18 year old kid from the east.

FWIW, Remington acknowledge their error of originally giving the 244 a 1-12" ROT. When they standardized the tapered barrel contour on the 721/722/725 series in 1958, they changed the 244's ROT to 1-10".

The 244 was dropped when the 721/722/725 were consolidated into the redesigned/refined 700 series. The 244 was renamed the 6mm and standardized with a 1-9" ROT. Early in the 700's production run, a roll stamp reading "6MM Rem Mag" was used, but the rifles were caught before they left the factory at Ilion and the "Mag" was x'd out. If you run across a 20" 700 with a 57xxx serial number, check to see if the barrel is marked "6MM REM XXXX". Mine is #579xx.

I bumped off four whitetails with my old 6mm this fall. Seems deer die forthwith when I bark it off in their direction. I am a definite fan of the cartridge.
