Do you have to feed hay too if the ground is covered?

We cull the real ringy ones.

The 'wild born' bull calf is totally tame. He does not does give a chit about people. The yearling that Wintered out there is slightly feral, she's always watching.

Had a cow that spent most of the winter out in the hills before we could get her in. Too wild to do much with. By February, she decided people weren't so bad! Since then, she's been tame as can be.

The old biatch made hunting that pasture interesting while she was alone in November. She was really wary; I'd stick nothing but my eyeballs up over a ridge looking for a deer, and there she'd be, staring right at me from a quarter mile away.

Not yet, luckily we have good Fall grazing so far. Soon though, generally mid-Dec through May.

I'm back.

And amazed. Had the perfect (almost) set up at crossing trails near the river's edge, slipped up on a trio of hogs about 7:15, leaned against a tree and was about to do the deed....then came the thunder, right to left. Two deers, a doe and a half year old, haulin' ass, afterburners lit. WTF? The doe actually jumped over the pigs and the little deer did a zig and zag, pigs scattering to the 4 corners.

You ask why the deers were running like that? So did I. 3 yotes in hot pursuit, about 30 yards back.

I hollered "SONOVABITCH!!!" That seemed to distract them, but not slow them down. They did change direction.

Yotes in Florida chasin' deers.....never imagined that before. Wild assed morning, wish I'd had the Ithaca pumper and some buckshot.

Maybe I need some cake? I'm a rookie with yotes, but I double dog dare them to pull that chitt again.

Phuoc! Was sure as hell not expecting that this morning.

Any of you hunting this area?
Smith took off Sunday from Baker City, Ore., where his family had been spending the Thanksgiving holiday, en route to Butte, Mont. But while flying over Idaho's vast wilderness, Smith reported engine trouble and asked air traffic controllers for coordinates to a backcountry landing strip near the tiny town of Yellow Pine, about 150 miles northeast of Boise and along the border of the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. Controllers then lost radio and radar communication with the plane.

The search Tuesday focused on an area south of the Johnson Creek airstrip after authorities received a faint signal from the plane's emergency beacon.
