This is one fine air rifle, accurate and hits hard. Do you guys have the same experience with this well made air rifle? The 800 fps seems more than enough to take down small game at short range.

I love my custom 392! ![[Linked Image]](http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j275/xposo/5341DE92-58F4-44C3-BEA6-A91F0E1F08D7-754-0000006F40FFD1E4_zpsc60abf6e.jpg) This one hits a bit harder than that, but yes, A 397 has more than enough power to take down and humanly dispatch small critters.

How do you get more than 800fps?

I don't. This is a Mac1 Steroid 392. Even at max pumps of 14, with H&N FTT, it's shooting in the mid to high 700's.(depends what time of year, winter, colder, denser air than summer) If I tried a lighter pellet it'll go over 800, but there would be zero accuracy. A bone stock 392 is supposedly only in the mid to high 600's with a light pellet. Power isn't everything, I'd rather take out a rabbit with a head shot of 680 fps than a miss at 700 fps. The rabbit won't know the difference, well, the ones that I dropped with the Steroid didn't anyway. They still died with one shot.

These rifles handle like a solid 22 rifle.

Last week I got a new 392 PA Benjamin pump up air rifle made by Crosman. The parts list in Crosman s web site for the 392 and 397 rifles are the same except that one is 22 Cal and the other is 17 caliber. I like the stock on the 392 Benjamin made by Crosman more the stock on the older 342 model made by the Benjamin Co. But I still have to mount a scope on my 392 and then test fire it with various brands and weight pellets. Then I ll find out if I like the rifle..

Shot my 397 this evening. Pumping's a pain and the trigger is a stiff one, but it doesn't have that springer kick and shoots sweet and didn't cost as much as a 270. I love this gun.

Install a Super Sear, the trigger pull can get down to 2 pounds or less if you polish all the contact points. My trigger is about one and a half pound of pull. Light for a Benjamin.
