I just put $1000 down on an 06 dodge. I getting one ordered from the factory with just what I want.
It's a 2dr, long bed, 4WD w/ the Cummins diesel. I'll have a limited slip rear, a 6 spd., over sized mirrors, and cruise control.
I was told if I looked long and hard, I might be able to get one for about $30,000 and something. Well I did look long and hard. I'm getting it for about $27,100 ! A touch more, maybe $200, if Chrysler raises it's price a bit. Or even $300 less if I can get the factory discount they have now.
If I can qualify for Chryler's finanncing, I could get about $850 more off.
Where did I find this deal ? Dave Smith Dodge, Kellogg, Id.
I suspect I did all right. E

You did some astute shopping and deserve congratulations. Did you decide on the 3.73 or 4.10 rear end?

E,
I bought an '05, in Nov. of '04, from Dave Smith, with the Cummins and all the goodies, over the phone. Being that I wanted a 3500 with all the extras, I didn`t expect they would have it on the lot. The salesman laughed, and said he had over a hundred acres of pickups. They even had the color I wanted. No one in the rest of the country came close in price. It was worth the drive up north to pick it up.

Daaaayyyymmmm. I need a new truck, sounds like I need to run up to my old stomping grounds. Pulling 12,000 lbs with my '90 Ford and a 351 is proving a bit, well, sloowwwww. A 3500 with a cummins would go a long way towards easing my pain. Heck, the fuel savings would make the payment..... Dutch.

E, were there any special requirements/conversions needed to bring an out of state vehicle into California?

No. Dodge made the 06 diesels to pass smog in all 50 states. My dealer sells lots of them to CA residents and even finances the CA vehicle tax which I must pay even if I buy out of state. E

E, I had plans to check them out but too late. Went to Hatfields in Redlands this morning and came home with a brand new 2006 GMC Siearra 4 door Crew Cab, Long Bed, Duramax/Allison 1 Ton Dualie 4x4. Everything heavy duty, trailering package with Eaton auto locking differential. SLT package with everything included. Even has the On-star. Only thing I had added is a spray in bed liner which will be done Monday, and a 72/100,000 bumper to bumper extended warrantee with 0 deductable. The thing rides like a Cadalac. Also I got it with 0 Down, 4.9%, a $1000 rebate, and almost $6,000 off sugested retail. Pretty much completes the package, a new Kubota L39 backhoe, a new 28' Zieman ramp trailer, and now the truck. Wife was pissed But I was able to calm her down.

Phil,

They get over it. And we still have the Boy Toys!!!!!

Yeah, I love my new Chev 2500HD CC/SB Duramax/Allison, too. The six-speed Allison 1000 with manual over-ride is phenomenal. As you said, they ride like a Cadillac.

What color did you get?

Steve

Steve, as far as the color it's just plain white. But with the over the rail spray in bed liner, haveing them spray inside the rear wheel wells also, and adding black powder coated floorboards it came out looking pretty sharp.

Way I figgure it, even though the wife has calmed down. It'll probably take her about 48 months to get over it.
