Can anyone tell me about the cold air intakes for trucks? I have a 01 GMC 2500HD with the 6 liter and am looking to try and get a little more power and mileage out of it. A friend mentioned the cold air intakes, do they work or is it snake oil? If they work any difference in brands? I supose if you know about chips you might as well educate me as well. Thanks

The stickers in the back window will make as much horse power as the intake. Cost less too.

Does it have a turbo? That's what the turbo does. None of the add on gizmos can put out even a fraction of the air pressure of that.

The K&N intake system does nothing for my current LBZ Duramaz diesel(wanna buy the K&N?). My previous GM 5.3 gas engine it seemed to add a little HP.

I've had the cai's on both my Dodge Ram 1500 and my F250HD and removed them both. The only thing they did for my trucks was make them noisier. I've converted both of them back to stock.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

In theory it should, as it provides a cooler, denser fuel/air mix, but with all that digital fuel crap, who knows? If you had the right chip and someone who understands the science designed it, maybe.

total BS and in most apps the 6.0 creates plenty of power

Yeah, gotta agree with the others, they are a lot of hype which I have bought into a few times with very little return. Won't say no return but not enough to merit the big bucks they cost.

Waste of time, money and effort. Regular K&N or cold air intake either one.

Put the K & N on my 7.3. Made a big difference letting them horses run.

The intake alone won't show you much. To get an benefit you have to get air out also so an intake with flow masters or the like will help.. Also look at tires. And pressure . I hav a 95 chevy hd2500 I brought up from 12 to 14 hwy by doing a K&N duel mufflers and mischlin ms2 tires. The mischlins have the least tooling resistance and last forever.

The only way to make enough power to actually notice a difference is to add a supercharger or a turbocharger. The aftermarket air intakes and exhaust systems won't make enough added power to notice and rarely if ever make enough difference in the mileage to pay for themselves.
If you want better mileage, drive like an old lady, or get a prius.
