Getting ready to start reloading for the 375 H&H and seeing RL15 is the go to powder. Varget and RL15 seem interchangable in the 308 Win and some other cartridges, but I don't see Varget often mentioned with the 375. I've got plenty of Varget so was planning to start with it. Right now I've got 250 TTSX and 270 A-Frames to try. So what's your opinion on Varget in the 375?

Varget works well in my 35 Whelen
and seems similar to IMR 4320.

Varget goes very well with the 375H&H. The only one I will use.

That's all I use in the 375&H too, and it's still a bit slow - I run out of space in the case for projectiles 270gn and under. If I go to a faster powder (AR2206H or IMR4898) the charge is about the same so I'm stuck.

That's a bold assertion. Point out where you think I lied.

Does anyone have any input or loads for Varget with 225 or 235 bullets in the 375 H&H

My CZ has a long throat to keep the peak pressures down so, in addition to normal loading procedures, start at what is listed in the guide (about 15% less than my loads). And of course the usual disclaimers etc

I use 81.5gn of AR2208 (Varget) behind a 220gn pill and 80gn of the same powder behind a 235gn projectile.

[Edit: I checked the guide after I originally posted what I use and these loads are in excess of what's shown in the guide (but safe in my rifle and are no where near "hot"), please follow the guide as per the below link:

Load data and powder equivalents (and free downloadable loading guide) at:

My Hornady manual shows Varget from 61.1 grs. - 75.1 grs. with a 270 gr.

Thanks Fellas. Sounds like I'm good to give it a whirl.
