Does anyone have an opinion of the Interarms Mark X Express rifle vs. the also Zastava produced Whitworth Express rifles? Features are identical - barrel band, pancake cheek piece, etc. My understanding is the Whitworths were fitted and finished in England while I'm assuming the Mark X's were done completely in Yugoslavia.

Anyone find the Mark X to be a lesser rifle in any regard?

Functionally they are the same. Whitworths, especially the 375's & .458's typically had a nicer grade & shaped stock, better finish, and nicer sights.

MkX's can often be over polished (wavey exterior). Whitworths tend not to be so. There are cheaper grades of Whitworths though that to me appear no different than their Mk X counterparts and sport the same "functional" stock.

My own .375 H&H ws built on a .375 length Mk X action with a Lothar Walther barrel. It functions just as well as any .375 Whitworth that has come through my shop.

So as far as we know, the barrels on the Whitworths and Mark X's were the same?

Made in the same plant, same contour, the Whitworths had sights, most Mk X's didn't and those that did came equipped with Williams sights.

To boil it down to its most simple fact . . . Whitworth's are more desirable and command more on the open market. Will always be that way.

A couple of modern Zastavas have turned up in Oz with off centre scope mount holes. Go the Whitworth.

Don't think old Interarms or Whitworths don't turn up with off center holes. It's nothing new.
