Got my CVA Apex smokeless conversion complete and so far I am very happy. Feels great in the hands and a pretty damn nice factory trigger. Can't wait to get it to the range

Nice gun. I was going to do the conversion, but it shot so nice as a 45-70 I left it alone and ended up doing a REM/PAC smokeless muzzleloader.

The trigger is very nice. I read on Doug's message board that they are very accurate as a SML. Did you have SluFoot due the conversion?

Well I hope you like it. Let us know how well it shoots. Have you decided on any initial loads to try out? I use H4198 in my REMPAC. Are you going to be shooting with sabots? You should have a great shooting muzzleloader. Congrats.

I have great results with 60gr H4198 and either Barnes 195's or Hornady 200's in light blue sabots in my Rem/McGowen and Savage/McGowen. That is where I will start with sabots. Not sure what I will try sabot less yet

Looks really nice, they appear to be a fine choice for a conversion. I was going to try to add an Apex conversion to my stable of SML's but I had a hard time finding one to convert. I ended up buying a slufoot converted 45/70 barrel for my encore. I now have two 700ml sml's and now the encore. These things are addictive.

Congrats!

45cal SMLs are my personal favorite. Fun to shoot and more than enough for nearly any game.

They can hurl a pretty big bullet pretty fast.
