With the Boundaries defined with "Sharpie", magnifiers on, and a wickedly sharp carbide scribe, one can carve in a good etched "Crosshatch".

I've used this method for prepping a steel to steel epoxy joint, so far with no failures or come backs.

.....part of my "Belt and suspenders" approach to mounting scope bases on the hard kickers.

When I put the Weaver blocks on my Cadet I roughed up the bottoms of the blocks w/80 grit paper to bare metal and with the barrel evenly lightly pitted I just decreased it w/brakeclean and evenly applied the Black Max and its still working. I thought about stippling the barrel first w/a very sharp punch but I figured Id try the light pitting first and if it failed go to the stippling-Muddy

another one to try is arrow nock glue. I've also made the mistake with solder flux messing up the bluing. I haven't used arrow nock glue for sites, but did use it to attach 2 blued peaces of metal together on a lever action. takes about 24 hours to cure

"Force 44" is nothing but repackaged Harris-Welco "Staybrite", a 95-5 Tin / Silver,.........the spec'd liquid flux provided is sudden death for bluing,.....adjust your sails accordingly.

I worked 10 years just a few feet away from the production line that made that stuff. It's the bomb.

If you ever make a pilgrimage to the Point Blank Shooting range in Blue Ash Ohio, the main entry is right where they made Staybrite for years when they were at that location. I helped move them to the new facility in Mason.
