I have had pic rails come loose as well.
The best thing you can do for either mounting systme is to dowel them and or oversize the screw holes plus bedding the base to the rifle.
Pic rails can make loading a top loader a bit difficult due to clearance.

Thanks again! The only SS models I'm interested in have the MilQuad. Even with FFP I could see that getting hard to see at dusk. Since I already have the 1" Talley's I'll probably go with the Leupold, not that its really much of a concession for what will be primarily a big game rifle.

Ok here is another rifle loonie question for you all. How low is too low for the objective of the scope? The reason I want to use talleys is bc I can use lows and there are only a couple thousandths of clearance between the barrel and objective. I've seen the high speed camera shots of barrel whip but with a sendero I can't imagine there is too much esp that far back towards the action. This is just gonna be a long range hunting rifle and I don't care for all the stock packs and cheek apparatuses. Also the pic I posted of my buck was just too show off my rifle which is a 300 rum and gets beat around like a hunting rifle and has never lost zero. I have them on a lw 338wm too. I trust them pretty well.

I don't have a feeler gage handy but I can slide 10 or 11 pages of an outdoor life magazine in between the scope and barrel but that's it. If I stick with the talleys I guess I'll have to get the alumina caps too lol

Those look fine to me. I'd run em and not give it another thought. Don't second guess why you went that route in the first place. I've used both rails and Talley LW's. The only problem I've ever had with Talleys was the need for lapping but never a strength issue.

DE Custom Ring/Base Sets
These are for Remington 700 long and short actions, they have 20 moa of taper, and will accept our ACI/ACD mount or our ACD mount. They are machined from 70 series alloy to our exacting standards and hard anodized.
Available 30mm only.
PRICE $180.00
These are pretty much 20moa Talley's, they look trick. I think they are a little pricy though. But if your looking for 20moa that's your best of both worlds right there.

And you can mount your bubble level to the top of the rear ring. seems like a pretty cool setup.

They are vx3 6.5-20x50s and mounted with Talley lows...about as low as you can get. I've seen the defensive edge ones before but it was the price tag difference and the fact that I had the talleys on hand and the def edge prob wouldn't get me as low. Even the seekins lows are quite a bit higher with a 20moa rail. I'm done with them now I bedded the talleys on both with marine tex and have shot them both since. One has 42 moa up and the other 42.5 from a 100 yard zero. I couldn't believe they were so close to the same. I ran my loads on a ballistic computer and they both get me just over 1200 yards which should do the trick. I prob won't go past 1000. Now I'm trying to decide on bulletsthe 7stw will shoot 180 bergers pretty well with very limited load development and I'm making them max mag length and not single loading. These are long range hunting rifles and I'm not making them single shots. If I have to I'll buy the wyatts ext bdl mag box for both. For the 7mm stw I'm considering the 162 a max, 160 nos ab, 168/180 berger and for the 300rum I'm thinking the 208 a max, 200 nos ab, or one of the big bergers.
