Any DASHER shooters here? I am wanting a 6mm something. Mild recoil so my sons can shoot also, very accurate, and something on a standard bolt face 700.
What kind of velocity can I expect from a 22" barrel pushing 115's DTACs?

You might condider a 6mm BRX. It's very similar, but can be reloaded with standard 6mm BR dies set up .100" Save you about $100 in dies. It can also be chambered with a 22 BR reamer and the neck and throat cut seperately to avoud a custom reamer. I just built a 6.5BRX that way and it worked like a charm! You can get just over 3000 fps from either with 115s. Drawings for both are available at 6mmBR.com . That's a great bunch of guys too. They seem happy to help with unusual projects.

I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I recently got back my XP-100 that I had chambered for the 6mm BRX. With the Lapua brass and decent bullets, it goes around 1/2" if I do my part.
I think I saw that Redding now makes Dasher dies, so I guess it depends on whether you want a 30 or 40 degree shoulder. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The Dasher and BRX are formed by simply FL sizing and fire forming?

Just fireforming in most cases. You can seat the bullet out to where it engages the lands and use a light charge to set the shoulder forward. The cases actually headspace on the bullet for forming.

The gunsmith that did mine recommended the size up/size down method to create a false shoulder, so that's how I've been doing mine and it's worked without a problem for what it's worth.

I have a 6 BRX on a Bat action built by Mike Bryant, and to form brass you neck it up to .257 or 264 and then partially neck down a portion of the neck so it will chamber. This creates a false shoulder for fire forming. The standard 6BR dies will work but you will not be able to size teh base of the case. I'm having a 3 sets of dies made for myself and a couple others that were interested, for the 6BRX from Hornady, so I can FL size the entire case. if you interested Hornady charges about $95.00 for a FL die. Hope This Helps Michael ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v648/Mntngoat/IMG_0739.jpg)

I have a 6BR, a 6 Dasher, and a 6X47 Swiss Match or Lapuas new case necked to 6mm. I have the Dasher reamer at the smith now and just yesterday ordered the new reamer for the new Lapua case. I am very interested in shooting the Tubb (Sierra) 115 bullet. The Dasher and BRX will have to be necked up as told above and then resized to fit the chamber as both these mentioned have a much longer body than the parent 6 BR case.

Tim, iam curious as to the specs of the reamer, did you based it off the Swiss round or the new Lapua brass that has not made it to the US yet? I've seen a few reamer prints but I was under the impression deminsions had not been set in stone yet!

Thanks for all of the input. I have a 700 LTR that is just waiting on me to make my mind up who to send it to and exactly what 6mm to have it rebarrelled to. When I think I have it figured out, you guess always start the wheels turning again!

It will be based on the Lapua brass. There was a drawing released after the final dimensions were decided I am told. This from a source at Graf & Son. The tooling/reamer man I use was sent the same drawing but is afraid to use the drawing sent to him by Lapua till the brass was actually in hand, he said he has been bitten by trying to go by drawings, I gave him the OK to wait till actual brass was in hand. He said that because I wanted a tight necked round that much of the math and calculations could be done without the brass. I am throating for the 115 Tubb (Sierra) which he has on hand. My source at Graf says the brass is on the way by boat instead of air freight.

Nothing wrong with a standard 6BR..I think you would like it alot and it would be alot easier to buy dies, load for, ect..
