I bought a 35 remington handi rifle a year or so ago and have killed a couple of bucks with it during the Mississippi "primitive" weapon season last year. I have only shot remington and hornady factory ammo in it and both brands shoot good for me. I've killed two 185lb-200lb bucks with it and both ran about 30 yards and crashed shot thru the lungs. The first was 177 yards (according to my rangefinder) and the other was about 30 steps. The first buck was with remington 150 grain cor-locs and the second was with hornady leverevolution 200 grain. I recovered both bullets on both deer under the hide on the opposite side from the shot. Recoil is mild and I feel comfortable taking a 200 yard shot with it. The rifle is short and "handi" and locks up tight. The only thing I don't like about the rifle is that I wish that it ejected the brass like the older handi rifles. Hopefully, I'll get to try it out on a couple more this year.

i owned a 35 remington. totally factory gun and shot core lokts into about a 1.5" group at 100 yards. it was a great gun! instant death on whitetails in my neck of the woods. sold it thinking i wanted an Encore more, and found out real quick i shouldnt have crossed that fence.

i now own a 16.5" 444 Marlin, a 45 Colt Classic Carbine, and two 30-30's. all are great shooters. i will be buying a 357 as soon as i can come up with a couple hundred bucks to throw away. i want an armadiller thumper for my 38 spl cast loads. should be a mouse fart like in my Marlin.

if it hasnt been addressed (only read page 1), most 357 barrels came on a shotgun receiver. dont think it ia safe to rechamber to rifle caliber unless you get a rifle frame.
