Better than Winchester 30/30's! With Leverevolution ammo the tube mag rifles are in a class up from the old stuff as far as range capability, but with a Savage you can load any pointy bullet compatible with the 30/30 velocity and mag length so you're much more flexible in loading options, which should make accuracy very good. All of my Savage 99's will shoot an inch or better with something, and it's not too much trouble finding it.
It should be noted that sometimes the takedowns don't shoot as well as a solid frame rifle.

Overall I've been very happy with the performance. Not going to guarantee they'll be a MOA rifle, but the ones I've shot have been very nice if they have a good bore. Sold most of my 30-30's off though and went back to the 303 Savage, basically the same ballistics. Here was my favorite 30-30:

I had a take down rifle for a short while. I would agree that it shot better than a 94. But the 94 feels better in my hands. In fact I think no other rifle is as easy to carry. And are plenty accurate for my intended purposes. I don't think a 99 in 30-30 would disappoint any lever gun aficionado.

The 99's will shoot as well as any typical production bolt rifle.
I'm not the sniper I thought I once was, but most will shoot 1 1/2" with a scope.
For me that has included. .30-30, .300, 303, .308. I had a .250 that regularly shot under 1". I'm sure someone else could have done better.

Mine shoots good enough to kill stuff. I've never put it on paper so I can't say a word about group size.

The short barreled 1899H or 99H that I've had feels like a far better handling rifle to me than that 94 that I had. Just my opinion tho, I'm always glad when folks want a 94 rather than a 99. Cuts down on the competition.

Sam Fadala is an outdoor writer and you may have read his work. His antelope rifle is a model 99 Savage in 30-30; he hand loads 125 grain Sierra pointed bullets. Accuracy is quite good indeed!

My Ex's father had one that probably had never fired a box of ammo in it's life.
How I wish I had that gun.
Would love to see what it would do with cast and coated projies.
