Hey guys,
I cant seem to find any load data for 308 win and imr 4350... is it because its too slow of a burning powder or unsafe? I just picked up a pound of 4350 knowing how versatile it is but im a bit dissapointed that I cant find any data on it for my 308. Does anyone have any load data for me? I will be using win brass and 180 grain interbonds. Thanks

I haven't ever tried it but I would think it's too bulky and/or too slow. In the "basic reloading manual" that covers Hodgdon, IMR and Winchester powders, 4350 isn't mentioned in the .308 and Winchester's 760 (which is generally used in similar applications as IMR 4350) is only mentioned with the 175 Sierra HPBT showing 2629 fps from a 24" barrel.

I am at work and don't have access to my older loading manuals, but I remember seeing some loads for the 308 with 4350. I don't think the velocity will be comparable to some of the other powders more suited to the 308's capacity. I've never tried it in my wife's rifle. I have used several of the mid range powders: RL15, 4895, 4320 and 4064 with good results. My wife's 308 likes H4895 with most bullet weights. I used to load her's with H380 behind 150 grain bullets with good success. Haven't seen any H380 in forever up here.

It works OK with 200-grain bullets, but is pretty crunchy when you seat 'em!

I just dug out my old Nosler Number 4 and it does have loads starting with the 165 gr Partition and B/tip.
165-
Start-46.0 grs/2502 fps/95% capacity
Max-50.0/2792 fps/104%
180-
Start-46.0/2488fps/99%
Max-50.0/2698fps/108%
200-
Start-44.0/2260fps/95%
Max-48.0/2460fps/104%

I recall reading a thread over on the 'hide where a gentleman loaded up the .308 with imr4350. IIRC, he had excellent accuracy, and slooowwww velocity.

Much better velocity comes with using Varget, RL15, IMR4064, etc.
Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!

Use the 4350 in your 270, 30-06, 7 mag and get some IMR 4895 for your .308. Life will be golden�.

With anything in the 180gr weight class and above, it'll be good. Won't get the absolute highest velocity, but not the slowest either. Easy to load also. Just drop as much powder in the case as you can stand to compress, and ran a bullet home.

I could live off of IMR-4895 for long and short actions and never look back.
.270's and .308's are a perfect fit for 4895�.
