To All Ever Wonder as to How Many Savage's Still Exist? How Many Orginal's,Untouched-Modified-Altered are around??How Many are still In the Orginal Family From Grandpa passed the the line? Why did Savage not go any Futher with 1 Of the 1st Calibors such as the 32-20 Prototype?? Also at 1 Time there where a Couple of 99's that where Chamberd for the 30-06 as Prototype's which where simular to the "R"and wider in the receiver and Heavier! The 30-06 I had Seen On Auction Several Years Ago. And Who Owns the Oldest Savage! This Would Be some Great Data to get for Savage Collectors and For Jed's Savage Fest in August. And wouldn't Be Wonderful If We could Get Savage Arms to Reintroduce the Savage 99 Again?? And If they Did as to What Calibors would You Like to See?? Steve

30-06 (favorite caliber) 30-30 (just because it is a classic) 300 Win Mag (may need a reinforced tang area)

Okay Steve,
now that I'm dreaming out loud: an elegant "1895" style stock. It would be highly figured French style walnut and checkered in the A3 style. The fore ends would come glass bedded up to the screw then free floated for accuracy. A 3/8 crescent black rubber butt pad should keep recoil managable when shooting from a prone position all day.
It should be chambered for the newly developed 250 Savage Mag with Ackley Improved ballistics. ( think same short receiver ) A deep blue 26" hexagon barrel (light weight, no sights) with 10-1 rifling to handle everything from 120 gr. Noslers to 75 gr. varmint bullets accurately. Deep blue receiver, same beautiful case colored straight lever. It would be factory D/T and topped off with a matte Leupold VXII 4-12.

I would DiddoThat a 45-70 With Saddlering and Boltman. Yeah another Calibor for the 99. But Let's Get to real Nitty Gritty Of things Let's Start With Our Forum Members any Any History that they Can Bring. Like Joe(Mad-dog)-Les, Jed and others. What Happened to the Original Prototype of the 99 in 32-20? How Many Savage's Still Exisist? How Many are Out There still around? It Would Be Nice to get some Number's together, for The U.S. and Canada. Starting With Me, My Dad and Father In-Law, total we Have, (1899sav and Family)= 206 Savage's From Model's 1895-99's Gathered from 1971 til Present. Steve

Also-I'd-like-that-lyman-hardened-and-kink-proof. ...ty,got a hearty chuckle there. I'd make a WAG and say 10% of the early rifles are still in unaltered condition.
