Hello, everyone. I haven't been on the forum in a awhile. Count two more 99's. Have an EG that's D&T'ed with a Lyman Alaskan and a takedown that I think is an older F. Not sure. The count is a great idea. A few of you guys own more 99's than I've ever seen!!

I have a M99eg in .300 Savage that is all original except for the scope mount tapping. Dunno if the sling mounts are original. This rifle got my grandfather, my father and myself our first deer. Lots of history with that gun!!!

rahtl, that's the best kind of 99 to own!

txati2d, post a pic of your older 99 and we'll help ya identify it.

And, I now have my 6th 99, a 1935 99EG in 300. Even bigger rat than I anticipated due to some stock damage incurred during shipping. Sigh...

So, that's a total of 1,199 currently? Steve, do we have to subtract the few dozen you're auctioning off? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

260 Remington. And they wouldn't have to retool the 308 action. Just screw on a 260 Barrel.

Personal opinion, but... I believe that the 308 stretched the 99 frame a mite too long. It lost the smoothness that made the 99 the sweetest handling lever gun of all. When Savage lengthened the 99 frame, it just became too long and less smooth than the shorter 300 size frame; but it is OK. Another stretch, I feel would be too much.

Therefore, I vote for the 338 Federal as a new cartridge - it has 30-06+ performance and licks on the heels of the 7mm Remington. AND, it will fit into the 308 frame.

With modern CNC milling, the costs should not be excessive, so a new 99 could be priced competively!

Howdy boys, I am new to the forum but you can put me down for 3.

99 E - 243 My first hunting gun that started it all
99 E - 308
99 T - 250-3000 My first Savage purchased as a collector and not a shooter. Now I have the bug and I am not sure if that is a good thing....financially.

I've never been lost...but I've been mighty confused for a few months...

HI Les
Didn't shoot it yet.The pictures looked better than the gun did.No hard feelings. We all are probably going to run into each
other on gun auctions since we are all out for the same thing.I
saw that 1895 you got on the auction.Looks like a nice gun.I think you got a great deal.I didnt start collecting the old ones yet.Anyway nice talking to you.
