I just punched out my SPS Tactical with 20"/9tw to 223AI. Anyone have any pet loads with 55blitzkings/60vmax/62 varmageddon pills? I posted this over on the Hide, and response has been a little slow. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

As we all know...one load may work in my rifle...

But not yours....start with your previous max load from your

223 & work up...expect 1-2 more gr capacity..depending on brass

150-200 more fps...Redding or the Lee 223 collet die will get

you going...my AI runs best with H4895..Benchmark or 8208...

^^^^^

What he said.

Mine likes 28.0 grains of IMR4895 with 55 grainers

or 28.5 gr. of H335 with the 55 gr TTSX ( this may give you excess pressure with a standard cnc)

Haven't done much with 60 grainers, though I can say it does like a mild load of 26 gr. of 4064 with a 60 gr.NBT

Benchmark, 2015, have been fantastic in mine with 55's.

However, N135 will give you the same accuracy with 100 fps+ in velocity.

For giggles and grins, try some H335, you will not be unhappy with the results.

Use thick cup primers, Rem 7 1/2, CCIBR4, Wolf Magnum, CCI 450

YOu will get top velocities at peak pressures. For that reason, many of us 223 AI shootes get our firing pins bushed by Gre-Tan Rifles.

In my CZ, I have pretty much settled on the 50gr Vmax over 28.5gr Benchmark. I know I could do a little better on speed, but the accuracy is phenomenal.

For bigger critters, up to deer, the 62gr Sierra SMP is my go to. Also over Benchmark, but I cant remember the load right off hand.

26.5gns of H4895 and a 60gn Nosler BT shoots bugholes.

In the new Beanland build, I am running 24.0gns of IMR8208XBR under an 80.5gn Berger and getting sub-1/4 moa groups while fire forming brass. Silly accurate.

While discussing 223ai, I have about 1000 Black Hills factory loads.. If I rebarrel or rechamder to the ai fire forming would eliminate the need to have the cases trimmed for several firings.. Do I have that right?

They are small, he might need more than one. That was my logic, so I have 2.

Ingwe, I know.. My old .222 is 8500 rounds old.. my cases for it are wearing out, . I was thinking of a rechander job in another 1500 rds. But may put a new tube on it w/ just a bit tighter twist.

Tik, it does .. It is a Douglas #5.. I just wonder if it will remove enough worn steel to be worthwhile or just get a new tube.. the 20 sounds fun, but I have too many.22vcal. bullets to move to a .20..

In a 9 twist, a guy might try the 75 hpbt with RL15 if you wanted to go heavier.

No pet loads for 9-twist but for context mine is a 12-twist and shoots the 60-gr V-Max's quite well and I use H335 because I have a lot of it. My 60-gr loads thusly loaded get 3450 in a 23" tube-plenty for my 300-yd shots in the farm country I live in. These do not read out as max in my rifle.
