HK had produced the USC (Universal Self loading Carbine) for civilians to purchase and they could have been made into a UMP if you paid the NFA Tax. Unfortunately HK stopped selling them to the general public.

No, he's right. They made an MP5 in 10mm. Dubbed the MP5/10 it was made for the FBI and I believe DOE's NEST teams used them

Very cool, didn't realize they made the MP5 in that caliber? I loved it in the 9mm version especially on full auto. The UMP feels "cheaper" to me but is still a sweet shooting sub gun!

What 5rd magazine limit are you referring to? Is that for hunting in Oregon?

I seem to remember seeing a T/C Contender Carbine barrel in 9mm if a single shot would work for you.

If not, there's this: http://www.armslist.com/posts/3683969/michigan-rifles-for-sale--colt-9mm-carbine

The Beretta isn't as cheap as the Hi-Point, but it works very well, and is very accurate. I think it is ideal for home defense, and is certainly a hunter. I've seen many 5-shot groups at 100 that go 2 inches with several handloads, and a red dot. The trigger is the only thing that sticks out for me as a gripe. Beretta mags are almost as prolific as Glocks. My brother and I have run many thousands of handloads through his. Nary a single failure. It does fine with +P+, though I don't think the spring is built for it. Speed does increase a bit over a handgun, particularly with slower powders, and I recall about 15% over a 5" Beretta 92 with same loads. 1200 with a 147 cast fp is a hammer!

If I was out Shed hunting while packing a Semi Auto Rifle and Saw a cougar, It would be Illegal in Oregon to Shoot if the Magazine held more than 5
