You can use a Lyman or Williams rear sight. You can also mount a tang sight. I suppose it would depend on which kind you prefer.

Williams makes a receiver sight for the 94AE. It is different from the one for earlier models and Marlins. The AE one mounts to the rear scope base tapped holes.

Williams also makes a ghost ring sight that fits in the rear dovetail that works well.

The tang option would also extend ones sight plain which is a very good thing. For intance, my Sharps has a 37 inch sight plain with its tang sight. Had I gone with a buckhorn barrel mount, it would be about half of that.

We all used the Williams on our 94s and 336s you could buy them in most gun shops, so we used them and they worked great!!

Go to www.skinnersights.com and see if they might make you happy. They look good and are quite functional.

A nice older steel Lyman 66 would look good too.

I've used both Williams and Lyman receiver sights on a wide variety of rifles and found them to be all good. But for personal aesthetic reasons I too would opt for the steel Lyman 66, especially on a lever gun made before the 50's.

The Lymans do have a nicer appearance.
And, I had considered the Target knobs for my FP, but after looking at one.....nahhh.

I have several Williams on a couple of Marlin 1894's in .357 and they are excellent sights. I also like the Ashley XS sights originally developed by Ashley Emerson now known as XS Sight Systems. These are more modern but are really good.

So I had this old Redfield # 70 (I believe) receiver sight for a 94 just laying around. Needed a rifle underneath it. So I picked up this '53 vintage carbine today for a good price. Some dolt had spilt coke on the right side of the receiver. Otherwise the mechanics and bore are clean and sound. The old rear sight insert was mangled for some reason too. I figgered it a good candidate for my sight! Voila!!! New south Texas pick up rifle!

You figured right, that Redfield looks like it means business on that 94. You are lucky you can see to shoot the irons, I have to use a fiberoptic on the front sight.
