It is insane that those Frenchmen who were slaughtered by Muslims in Paris where unarmed. It is criminal that they were denied legal firearms to defend themselves against the terrorists with illegal firearms.

Every citizen in the USA who is not a criminal should be able to join our militia and with government assistance and training carry concealed weapons. This would ensure that terrorists who attempt to butcher our citizens like they did in Paris would encounter numerous armed members of our militia to fight them. The Europeans should adopt this strategy also.

Conrad, we don't have to "join" the militia, WE are the militia. It is only because of unconstitutional laws that we don't carry firearms all the time without a permit.

OK. But previously we had a formal militia that was supported by the government. I am calling on the government to reestablish the formal militia with the goal have having everyone in the milition carrying concealed weapons.

Lets be real. Most politicians are career with 20 plus years, have all the protection they need. You really think they actually care about the avg. citizen?

Conrad, there was never a "formal" militia. The militia is, always has been and always will be the citizenry. When called up, they bring their own arms and accouterments, and are directed by a citizen. They are never supported by the government.

well, Curdog, there might be a smidgeon of logic in that statement? as far back as the inconvenient dirty little war in se asia, a lot of the involuntarily acquired recruits i served with had no clue how to shoot. "how does that thingy work?" was a standard question. who can help a young male become a functioning member of a hunting club?

i mean, they were raised in the city and/or suburbia. they know nothing about guns. please don't issue a gun to an untrained volunteer. i came to the RoundTable from the farm, as many still do. Most, however, do not. they need help, assistance and guidance.
