I killed a brand new 3-9 Big Sky. Took them 6 weeks to replace it, and that was after I called to inquire.

Second was an S2 4.5-14. Killed it on a lowly 22-250. Gun started shooting crazy and took off scope. When you shook it, it rattled.

I've only used one Sightron I have a SIII 6-24 that has about 5000 rounds on it (F-class, steel shooting and prairie dogging) mostly on a 6.5x55 but some 308.
I think they are decent scopes for the guy not wanting to spend big money.

Your experience with Sightron is the same as mine with Burris. I had three 8-32X Signatures go bad on a .223 heavy barrel Savage. And two 2 1/2-8X fail on a Freedom Arms .454. And then there was a 4-12X on a .375-.416 Rem Mag that sounded like a baby rattle in less than ten shots. And don't forget the 4-12X on a 7-.300 Weatherby fog up on the inside.

I have:
(2) Sightron SIII 3.5x10x44 scopes.
I am an MOA man, but I like the mil dot one better, as the moa reticle is too fine for my old eyes.

(30) Leupold scopes
(5) IOR
(3) Burris
(2) Sightron
(1) USO
(1) Unertl
(1) Bushnell
(1) Redfield
(zillions) of off brands and ancient Weavers that I do not track

My impression is that the mil dot sightron is all I would ever need for hunting, if those turrets were not so easy to turn.

I'm about to take a Big Sky 6.5-20 for a first time spin Sunday afternoon. I'll post a video of 400,600,800 then back to 600,400,200 on consecutive shots in under 2 minutes and see how it turns out.

Is the reticle in Mils and the controls in MOA?

Yes, here is a pic.
[Linked Image]

900 Miles from here, out in the sagebrush in October 2014 I fired ~ 50 rounds, recorded 3 groups, shot two bucks. Not enough to wear out a used scope.

Browning 1885 7mmRM 140 gr Nos Bal Tip moly 3.34" 70 gr H4350 3400 fps
Sightron scope

1) 1.0" 3 shot group at 100 yards = 1.0 moa
2) 3.6" 3 shot group at 450 yards = 0.8 moa
3) 7.2" 3 shot group at 550 yards = 1.3 moa

The only one I own is the fixed 6x which was discontinued. It is a great scope and with the $100 dollar rebate I think I only ended up paying $150 which is like getting it free. Great eye box and great glass, very forgiving. I just wish they hadn't put such a thin reticle in it.

I have one of the few 1.5x6x40mm SII's and it is one of my favorites on rifles used for called côyotes. I'd buy again if they ever built one.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.
