Wonder when the airlines will start a people only flights, no luggage only a laptop case for business and small case for medical items. All luggage shipped early or late, haven't heard any terrost threats to cargo planes. The load would be lighter and fuel consumpson would be less. I feel many people would fly this way to miss the waiting and confusion of todays airports. -- no

I've been somewhat bemused to hear peoples reactions to this latest bust (btw good job LEO's) they are scared to fly, mad at the "newer hassle" if they do have to fly, etc. etc.

I still think it's riskier for the average citizen to commute to work by car than to get blown outa the sky by terroists.

They got too many folks here running scared and too many believing the gov't is supposed to keep anything bad from happening to them with more laws, more bureaucracy and more taxes.

When you start flinching before the punch is landed you're about whipped IMO.

I ain't near as afraid of dieing as I am of some azzhole turban wearing or brooks brothers suit wearing dictating how I'm gonna live. YMMV

I must confess to being one who gets mad at the newer hassles.....I fly a minimum of 4 times per month, and it gets old to be hassled all the way through security each time, often by seemingly dull-minded TSA agents who barely speak English.

Hard to swallow being eyed as a potential threat to my country, by someone who obviously hasn't even been here long.....

This reminds me of something a prisoner told me.

When my Kairos cohorts and I first went into this prison, nobody ever attended the chapel services for any reason other than to have sex. It's a maximum-security prison, and most of the inmates spend all but a couple or three hours a day locked down, and they're under close supervision for those few hours. However, the state isn't allowed to deny them chapel services, so those who had homosexual lovers would go to the chapel in order to take advantage of the relative privacy of the pews. (There weren't enough COs available to stop or discourage the trysts.) Nobody else went to the chapel, of course, because if you went to the chapel everybody knew why you were going.

You can imagine how disheartening this was for the chaplains.

Anyway, after our first Kairos weekend, four guys decided they were going to take the chapel back, and they pretty much did. After four Kairos weekends, chapel attendance was up to about 65 inmates per week.

However, one of the guys told me that recently the homosexuals made an attempt to take over the chapel again. Two of them came to services and sat together in one of the rear pews.

This fellow said that he and a buddy of his immediately got up and went back there and sat one on either side of the pair.

"Welcome! It's great to see you here, brothers! We hope you enjoy the service today, and that you keep coming back!"

And they sat there, four guys in a row with the outer two looking grim and the inner two looking uncomfortable, for the entire service. Afterwards, the pair left quickly and was never seen again.

I haven't flown commercial airlines since before 9/11, just because I don't like going through what they jokingly refer to as "security;" but I suspect something like this would work on airline flights as well. If you see a couple of suspicious Arab-looking passengers and you're a bit concerned, don't just whisper to the person sitting next to you, go up and sit next to them and strike up a conversation. If they pretend not to be able to speak English, take it as an opportunity to teach them. Ask them lots of questions. Tell them about your vacation. Observe them closely.

Might work, anyway. Probably better than government airline "security" drones feeling up grannies and little kids...

Dave,

Travelling down South with the family was a serious hassle, but I must say the worst thing was AK Airlines running late, and us being stressed about missing connecting flights.

If I'm headed north for work with just a carry on, it isn't too bad, but with lots of luggage and little kids, airline travel sucks. I'm also thinking when tourist season is over Anchorage won't be so bad to go through.

I take a small carry-on back and forth to work also. When traveling on vacation, I do the same....and buy clothes when I get where I'm going, then pitch 'em in the trash on the way home.

Was surprised that last time I flew south from Anch, I had 200 rounds of brass and 200 TSX's in my carry on....they ran it through the Xray twice, but never said a word, and didn't take any of it away......

sounds just like the snivling and whining after 9/11. First the government had not done enough, then a week later, the government had done too much.
Meanwhile, IslamoKazies have done their best to kill thousands of folks in another attack.
Now which type of flight experience do you really want? A delay getting on, or a permanant delay in reaching your destination?

Dave I feel for ya, flying as much as you do.

We used to fly out at least twice a year sometimes 3 or 4, but hardly go at all anymore.

I just don't have the temprament to suffer fools gladly, and when they're over there wanding my kids or my wife, it don't sit well with me to be honest.

I'm getting a mite better as I get older, not quite as mouthy or froggy, but still a man's got to know his limitations and I've learned some of mine over the years.

Last thing I need is to end up in the Federal pokey cause some crewcutted white shirt guy with rubber gloves pizzes me off.

Kids and mom are all getting older (me too I guess, grin) so maybe I'll try it one of these days again, maybe it won't ruffle me as much. But when my kids were little and momma was in her prime I wasn't much for anyone touching them and don't really give a [bleep] who it was.

Love the idea of the Bowie knives, that'd have the ragheads figuring out how to make PDQ detonators!

Got a visual when you announced such of you and Stick sitting on either side of some Arab dude with big azz knives smiling. I ain't much for false sense of security, but that scene gives me the warm fuzzies.

Anybody ever see the www.thekidfrombrooklyn.com ? Click on videos and then on Bat Day. Be warned, some of the language is salty. It's his thought on bat day at the ballpark and flying with terrorists.

I guess it depends on how much one travels as to how they feel about the TAS thang.

I don't think anyone of us is against safety in the skies. But if you run through airports frequently, you'll see alot of sensless BS, and realize a few good folks focusing their efforts on the likely suspects, vs hords of drones running everyone through like cattle will be much more effective.

Wonder how many wily ragheads have been stopped at Deadhorse?

I didn't see what the newest terrorist arrestees looked like but why can't we just keep muslims off the planes. I geuss they could start going in disguise but it seems like it would help and outrage enough peaceful muslims to start riding herd on there own or join them if they are riding the fence. Then at least we know where they stand.

yeah gotta be the AK mindset.

Let's see if I read you 458 Lott,

you think that the resources we bring to bear on Air safety would be better concentrated and thus more effective?

Yeah if I'm reading that right, I'm agreed.

Seems to me if we went through every ME'ern looking folk that's flying with a fine tooth comb, that would make more sense to me. Sure it's not fair to the honest ME'er but maybe if they go through enough hassle they'd be more inclined to rat out there revolutionary cousins.

I would think it would be easier for our intel to keep track of folks of another race that have been to Palestine (?) than just searching every 7th person or whatever they do.

Probably too much common sense and too PC incorrect to fly, but it sure makes sense to this cowboy.
