Looking at a CZ 527 in 7.62X39 that's at a local shop. I'ts a used gun priced the same as what I can order one for new. Figure it won't sell anytime soon so I'm not in a hurry to get it plus the longer it sits the more wiggle room they'll have. I have a Douglas 6mm 1:10 #2 blank in my safe not slotted for any rifle that I picked up cheap.
I already have a 6X47 Rem which is nearly identical as far as case capacity to the PPC. Other than a slight increase accuracy over my current 6X47 and ability to get Lapua and Norma brass what issues might I run into in this project. The twist is less than ideal for heavy bullets but I figure I'd be limited on magazine space anyway. Plus I don't have plans to run anything heavier then 80-85 grains and I have a hefty stash of 70 grain Nosler and Sierra bullets that my 6X47 loves.
I've read where there are some feeding issues on occasion with the PPC from a repeater. So that had me thinking 6mm Beggs and just necking up the Lapua .220 Russian cases might be the cure for any potential feeding issues. Main use for this rifle will be prairie dogs with the occasional pronghorn or deer.

6mm Grendel would work, but I'd rather neck up and not down or not at all. Not a big deal either way good brass available as well for that cartridge.

The 6ppc and the Beggs are from 220 Russian parent case. Same as the 7.62X39 ammo. I started with a 7.62X39 Zestava Mini Mauser. It is now a 220 Beggs and it feeds perfectly.

I'm sure either will be very accurate. If you value resale at all, empirical evidence states that 7 times as many shooters know what a 6ppc is vs a Beggs.

I don't worry about resale much, plus if I were to sell it I'd list it where a rifle loony could buy it. I really just wanted to know if there are truly feeding issues with the PPC cartridge, or if it's truly only on the internet. I know Sako ran the PPC for awhile as well as some other manufacturers.

P-dogs and g-hogs are a blast to shoot with accurate rifles. 6mm cartridges just keep more options open for me as far as hunting opportunities, or else the .22's would be on the menu.

I just spent the weekend with a new Sako 6mm PPC I got off the Campfire last week. Sako's are known to feed reliably and this one did. It also shoots pretty good...

Not as explosive of a prairie dog killer as I'd expect or it was a longer range shot. Are those Sako a 14 twist? I want at least a 10 but wouldn't mind a 8 for some of the specialized bullets. The biggest problem with my 6X47 is it has a 12 twist and it doesn't like anything over 75 grains.

Dear Mr. Shrapnel, Get well soon!

Sooner or later our heritage of hunting is going to be a rich mans sport and the words "Outfitter" and "Hunt Industry" will be synonymous with cancer and A.I.D.S. among blue collar hunters like me and my family! (A.L. Williams - 2010)

I chrono'ed them at 3150. Not as fast as I want, I will be adding about 1 1/2 grains more to get that velocity up. It won't keep up with the 222 mag and 40 grain V-max at 3800...

A good accuracy node for the 6PPC is 3300 with the 66-68 grain bullets.

I have shot untold thousands of the 60g Sierra At p. dogs and ground squirrels, 3550 out of a 26" barrel, unreal accuracy.
Today, I would run with the 55g Noslers and AA 2230.
