Anyone have any experience with this combo. I was looking for a flat shooting to 350 yds. combo to use out of my Tikka. I have a bunch of Reloder 17 that should push them along quite fast.

Not sure about RL-17, but Load data shows the 130 TSX at 3,572 fps with 81 gr. Hunter in the .300 WM. RL-17 is only slightly faster burning than Hunter and I'm sure there's a load out there, I didn't see one. The only comparison I can give is 120 gr. E-Tips at 3,450 fps out of an 8 twist 26 Nos. That combo is a killing machine. It's hard to tell the difference between terminal performance of that load and 140 NAB/NPT's at 3,300 fps. The Nos will push the 127 LRX nearly 3,600 fps. My next range session will test those at 3,575 fps. So, up to 400 yds. or so, I'd say it would be a mean load. Would probably mess up a porker's heart like this 180 # sow, hit with the 120 E-Tip at 180 yds. She fell in her tracks. And, those super fast loads shoot like a laser. DF

I used the Barnes max load of H4350 with 130 XLC in the 26" barrel of a M70 300 Win Mag for just under 3700 fps. The furthest I shot it was 500 yards but of course it was very flat shooting. Never got to use it on anything but I bet it works well.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I run em in my AR-10 house gun, in a 300 Win you will have a little laser smoker out to 400 yards or so, I'd look at RL-19 or similar.

I will have to work up from some 150 gr. loads , I guess. If it does anything over 3450 accurately I would be happy. I am not a Huge Barnes fan but am willing to try this out. The Tikka has a short magazine box and loads need to be 3.34 at the most. I will work on this and post my results.

I wasn't a Barnes fan, either. Then I built the 26 Nos and now, I'm a convert... They love speed, more the better. DF

I have only killed one animal with Barnes bullets and that was about 1991 with a 175 gr xbullet in a .338 . Deer was dead , but otherwise those old x's were more trouble then they were worth in my opinion. I figure the load above proposed would have velocity on its side to help terminal performance and will be lighter kicking then my standard 180 partition loads. Being able to shoot a 7 lb .300 win mag prone helps in the prairie here.

Yeah, the .300 WM does kick less with light bullets than heavy ones, for sure. I'm working up 200 NPT's in my .300 Damara which is well under 7# before scoping. But, it has a brake. Sorta cheating... I refinished a .300 WM Parker Hale for a good bud. It's pretty light. Now, that thing does kick, 150's and 180's, not the gun I'd pick for 200's... I'd rather shoot my NH M-70 Stainless Classic .375 H&H than this PH. DF Parker Hale, .300 WM. Pretty gun, nasty kicker...

260, My old .300 has a 26" Lilja on it, and with I4350 it would shoot a 150 gr. NBTBT at just about 3400fps.. Somedays a bit over somedays a bit less.. It is a near max, load in some books, but shows no pressure in my rifle.. I used it on a sheep hunt in 91, sighted in 3" high at one hundred it dropped a bit less than 2 ' at 500.. Haven't tried the Accubond in that rifle, but if it is as accurate as the BTBT you would have the best of both worlds. I did use it, the 150 Accubond, on an elk two years ago.. Again from a .300.. It had a much longer barrel, and the load was almost 3500 fps. I suppose the elk was 200 yards or so.. Not long range, but not woods ranges, dropped her right there.. The bullet performance was perfect.. However it did not exit.. On elk, I am not sure if I ever had a Accubond exit in .30 cal.Hope this helps.. There are much newer powders than I4350 but it has worked for me for about 50 years... Best of luck..

I don't have my records here but a Max load of 7828ssc w/the 130 ttsx was doing 3550 out of my 25" tikka. I remember the results were spot on w/quickload ...SD and accuracy was excellent.
