Hello,

Wondering if anyone has used any of Alliant's new RL26 in their 7RM? If so, what kind of accuracy and velocities are you seeing with 160-168grn bullets?

Plan to give it a try in my Sendero (26" factory tubes w 1-9.25" twist) and wanted to try something besides H1000, 7828 or RL25.

Any help appreciated, have some berger 168's and amax 162's on hand.

Thank you,

SD

Fotis can you post similar data with RE23? I am shooting a Shillen 26" barrel on my model 70 7mm rem mag. In particular, 160 AB, 168 ABLR and Berger VLD, and 175 ABLR.

Thank you so much.

No 23 data on Q/L and I do have the latest version. BTW I heard that 23 and 26 will replace 22 and 25.

23 & 23 may replace 22 & 25 in the RL product line, but Alliant was quick to inform me that the data was interchangeable when I contacted them with question regarding 23. Just an FYI.

Odd that Q/L has data for 26, but not 23. Any idea how long ago the 26 data was added?

I was thinking that 23 would be a hair slower than 22.

In my 7 wsm, this is not the case. With 120's and 160's max charge wt with 22 = max charge wt with 23.

120's were 50 fps faster with 23, but that could be a quirk.

Testing some 26 next with the 7 wsm and 300 dakota.

Alliant,(Duane), confirmed the burn rate of 26, "it is slower than 25 but faster than 33". I inquired about 23 too, but have not yet received a reply.

I bought the update a week ago.

According to Q/L 70 gr of RL 26 with 160 gr AB in a 7 mag produces a minute amount of more pressure than RL 25 loaded in the same way.

Reply about 23 from Duane at Alliant.

"Reloder-23 is slower than Reloder-22. The load data for the two of them is different, it is NOT the same. All of the Reloder series of powders has anti-copper additives with the exception of Reloder-17. Reloder-23 will be pretty much used in the same places as Reloder-22.

Thanks

I disagree. I'm almost done with my second pound of 23 thru a 7 WSM and it's basically the same as 22 (maybe a hair faster).

Fotis that's an interesting table to read through.

If that's what a 7mm Rem Mag looks like at 65,000 psi I suspect I've never loaded that hot. Anytime I saw over 3100 fps with a 160 gr from the cartridge I'd stop and throttle back a bit.

But it does show how much better some of these modern slow burners can be in the cartridge. Can't help but wonder how they'd hold up in real life. That first load with V N570 grabs my eye.....77 gr for 3253 fps at 65,000 psi, That's a lot of velocity from the cartridge with a 160. Ditto for the RL33 load for 3238....Good to remember this is for a 26" barrel.

Interesting.

Anyone know how does QL arrive at its figures anyway?

The 280 Remington is overbore.

The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.
