I have my new Williams peep sight and will be putting it on my 392 soon. I have "searched" the web for tips and tricks and etc. I was not overwhelmed with info. Do any of you have any tips that might be useful?

Thanks in advance fellas,

Mark

I have three Williams peep sits on my pump up air rifles. First mount the site using the two screws after removing the site part from the base. Replace the site part and lower it to its lowest position. The rear open site must be removed to use the peep site.

I had one on my 392, it was pretty easy to put on, and a nice precise site for adjustments too. I left the original rear sight on as well and you could see some of the dovetail in the aperture, otherwise it worked, was rock solid.

But yeh, I know what you mean, there was not much info on the internet back in 2010 to help me in installation.

If your sight won't go low enough, you may have to file some material from the bottom of the top piece. Do a search on the net and you should find some photos of altered sight. I had to file my Williams down to get enough adjustment to zero in at 25 yards.

The new peep sight is great. I didn't have to adjust one thing. I have zapped a few tree rats with it already. Love it. But, to tell the truth I need to actually spend some time with it at 25yrds off a bench to really test it out. My work so far has been successful but a little crude. Thanks for the replies. And if you have a 392 that you haven't scoped and you don't plan to....get this sight!

I have a Williams Peep on one of my Benjamin's and found the peep too large. I called Williams and found out the opening on the factory Peep is .92 in diameter and they sell one at .5 in diameter. It is MUCH better to aim through. Deadly accurate at both 25 an 33 yards. 9.95 plus shipping from Williams.

I have one on my Benjamin. It was a simple install.I have been zapping the squirrels with it. I think it is a better sight for older eyes. Mine didn't require much adjustment. I was glad I didn't have to do any filing.

I've used the Williams on my 397 for a couple of years now and although I can target shoot with the small aperture I find it much easier to see my target with just the ghost ring. I suppose this has a lot to do with my old tired eyes. At any rate, you might try just using the big ghost ring and see how it works for you.

Yep, something I learned years ago. A small aperture that works well on a high definition well lit target is a lot of times a handicap in the field. I think this is a reason some people have a hard time with peeps. They're trying to look through a defined hole rather than use a large enough aperture to allow the ring to "ghost". The eye's natural ability to seek the highest concentration of light, which happens to be the center of the aperture, will center the front bead without focusing on the hole.

I bought a Williams 5D-SH for my 392 and the holes don't line up. The backside of the packaging clearly states the 5D-SH is intended for the Blue Streak/Silver Streak. I'd like to find one of those someday, so I'll keep the sight, but I'd really like a peep on my current production 392. Which model Williams do I need to order?

OK, completely disregard the previous post. After pulling my head out of, uh, the clouds, I realize the 5D-SH fits perfectly and took less than five minutes to install. blush

Now for the sight in.

I smoked another tree rat in my strawberries today with mine. Never had to sight it in. It was never in need of any adjustment. Oh, and the rifle has sat on 6 pumps for over a week and "smack" right in the kisser. DRT
