Hi, I have an old recurve bow that I would like to start shooting with for fun. I will try shooting instinctively. If I am using helical vanes, does it matter if the vanes rotate clockwise or counterclockwise around the arrow (if you are looking from the back of the arrow to the front)?

Also this may seem like a dumb question but does the arrow just sit on the ledge on the riser or is there some other rest I should attach to the bow?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I should add that I am shooting right handed with fingers.

Should not matter. My buddy and I used to grind are own turkey feathers and burn them to the shaft, he used right wing and I used the left. No problem.
