Interested in hearing about the experience. I shot fingers and pins for years. Then switched to release and 5 pins with peep and kisser. Now release and slider with peep removed the kisser a few years back.

The peep may havve cost me a shot at a decent buck last week.

I wouldn’t remove the peep. It acts as your rear sight for sight alignment. I’d just work on making sure it’s lined up when you draw back or possibly use a larger size peep if you are using a smaller size.

Yup...we didn't have peeps at first. If your anchor is consistent, it's not needed.

But a peep makes "consistency" much easier.

I used a peep for years when i was shooting spots and tournaments but when i quit and was only hunting a took it off and have zero regrets. The older i've gotten the more i'm glad i removed it. I have a small kisser button and a couple other anchor points i use and i shoot just fine without it. The older i got the harder it became to see through at dawn and dusk even a big one but without the peep that issue went away. I'm consistent, accurate and confident out to 40yds and most of my shots are 25yds and closer so having no peep just works for me.

+1 For accurate aiming and consistency a peep is critical. You can go with a very large peep and circular pin housing and be very accurate as long as you keep things centered. Good strings work wonders in keeping a peep sight aligned at full draw.

One other note is to have your peep properly located. You should be able to draw and anchor with your eyes closed - when opened you should be looking through the center of the peep. If not move your peep.
