actually it was warm and i shot the bear at 7pm,didn't get home til 9pm and totally forgot to take any pics.i was so tired and sweaty i just wanted to get the meat in frig and rest up. today my land owner is one happy man,he is always wanting a young bear to eat.i'm taking the meat to the him in the morning. the game checking station did take one pic ,maybe i can get a copy.
we've killed to at my house,my 150lber and one of my buddies got a 420lber on crop damage tags a few weeks ago. here's a pic him a week before he killed ,in my yard.dancin bear, with my feeder.
I've always wanted to take a bear. My Brother has a cabin in Maine with another guy. They have both taken bears up there over bait. I haven't been invited, but I think I'd like to spot and stalk one instead. Seeing my Brother take up barrels of jelly donuts kind of ruined it for me. I'd probably take the wuss option and bring a rifle. I'd take a crop damage bear. I know the guys who farm oats in Maine have bears in their fields all the time. I don't know anyone here that has taken a bear with a bow. You've got to be pretty brave, and confident.
My Brother shot a 250 pound bear with his .308 and my handloads. He said he rolled down a hill snarling. It wasn't his shining moment when he had to climb down and go looking for that bear. It was dead when he found it but he was scared looking for it.
i usually carry my glock when bow hunting bear.lots of bear on the move here now ,today i was working on a guys house and a bear came in the yard at 8 am . walked by at 30yds ,i'd guess around 300lbs . woulda been a very xbow kill.
