My 12 year old son has decided he wants to get a bow for Christmas and I want to get him one. I have asked around and have been told the Diamond Razor Edge is a great bow for beginners and will grow with the hunter. He has always wanted hoyt or PSE.

I have only bow hunted one year. Any suggestions from seasoned professionals on bow and/or where to buy it?

Way too much info left up in the air here guy. How much can he comfortably draw and shoot..... over and over again. How serious is he about this and will he give it up after just a few times or continue with it for quite a while? If you have an archery shop in your area the has rentals and lanes to shoot I would go that route first. he can start with a stick bow (a recurve or longbow) to start as it will keep things simpler for him and he can concentrate on his form and basics without all the complications of a compound bow right off the bat. And that saves you some initial cash outlay as well. You could even get him a used bow on the auction site to get him started and shoot in the backyard with him. get some nice father/son time together to boot!
Good luck.
iamgunnut gave you some good advice in my opinion. Maybe even one step better get him into a J.O.A.D. program at your local shop/range.
