What is a reasonable price for a good quality used compound bow? I know that's a HUGELY vague question. Thinking something about five years old in good shape,#70 peak draw weight 32" draw. Just a good hunting bow and nothing crazy fancy. Just needs to get meat. I know for a while guys were dumping three year old bows just to get the latest and greatest thing.

Having a 32 inch draw will make it a little difficult to find a good deal on a bow, I am a 32 inch draw myself and after looking on archerytalk for months for a bow I ended up buying new. I called 5 shops and I happened to find one where a guy had ordered a LD Hoyt and never picked it up so the shop gave me a great deal. Not saying you won't find one, usually a 5 year old bow depending on brand your probably looking at 300 to 600.

I'd say you are looking closer to $250-400 for five years. The price issue is when the bare bow retailed at $1000 new, the resale is still holding the price up a bit.

I'd look for a Mathews Switchback LD, they have been fairly common on e-bay in the post season, I was looking through the listings this weekend.

Good bow, stable, should last well, and shouldn't break the bank.

That's what I draw with my traditional gear. Actually 31 1/2". I forgot about a release which would get me closer to 30". I could actually go a little older if it were taken care of. Regretting selling my Mathews that was a 2000 vintage. The thing shot great. Thanks for the time and info. 300 to 600 isn't bad.

I sold an S2 a few years ago, probably one of my "shouldn't have" moments. I liked it, but was chasing speed and 3D targets at the time, and wanted to try other bows.

You should really get to a good reliable archery shop and get measured for you correct draw length. Your release will affect where you anchor not effect proper draw length.

I agree with a newer compound, even 5 years old, your draw length will be shorter with the placement of the rest and the much wider arrow channel for drawing. Your arrow need not to be outside the front of the bow, but half way down the arrow shelf. I was 30 3/4" older compound ... now 29 " with a 2010 compound. HH

And as someone else said, go to a good pro shop and get measured to be sure you get the right draw length.

Just sold a Mathews DXT, 50-60, w/quiver, QAD rest, and spare 60-70 limbs for $350 It was built in 2008.

I have bought two older Elites (an Answer and a Hunter) in the past year---$300 & $325 for them
