Lengels gunshop sold archery, used to have a 30" draw Hoyt Prohunter at 100#.

" Draw at own risk".

Folks would oo and ahh over it. My skinny azz would take it from the rack and draw it like one would in normal draw.

That freaked em.

Then Id do it lefthanded.

Roundwheeler helped. My PSE Mach 4 went 96# and w release i couldnt do it. My bow arm elbow would buckle.
92 was doabke but wore me out. Dropped to 86 for a while and eventually settled on 82. I shot it indoors and for 3d.

Nowadays a 60# tight hotrod bow w big cams just hurts.
But i can run the Hoyt cam and a half at 70# no prob.

Still, a thumper bow like yours is way cool.

Blast from the past there.....

My last compound bow, before going back to traditional bows, was a Prohunter. I never shot a release, so the longer length of the Hoyt was better for fingers. Mine was set at 82# shooting 4 fletch 2512's, 242 for speed, if I remember right. Buddy I sold it to is still shooting it.

Buddy of mine is still shooting his Mathews Safari 100 pounder, quite well too!

Prior to the Hoyt, I had a couple of TSS Quadraflexes. The company was a couple hours from me, and took one back one time to get the limbs replaced. Drove back over to pick it up, took it from the rack, pulled it half way back, my shoulder popped, and let the string go right into my left arm. Ended up with the most God awful bruise you ever laid eyes on.

Damn thing was set on 92#......

I liked the quadraflex.
They were cool rigs back in the day.
Expensive too.

The two tone came riser version my fave.
Passed on a blue riser target model back then.

Breathing some new life into the GT500. Found some 60 pound max limbs, so going to do a swap and start shooting it again. Still looking for 70 pound limbs, but the 60's will more than get it done. This arthritis is a biotch!

My main bow was a Martin Firecat set at 87. I think speed was in the 220 neighborhood LOL.

just out of curiosity, how fast will this bow shoot a 500 grain arrow?

Shooting a 512gr, 29 1/4" Easton 300 FMJ arrow it was 310 FPS with over 100 pounds of kinetic energy.

Arrow didn't care what was in its way, it just kept right on going!









Sad to say, it just hurts too much now and can no longer use it in this configuration. But, looking forward to setting it up with the 60 pound limbs (that'll be here this week) and getting back at it with it! Incredibly smooth, fast and powerful bow. I like it better than my Mathews bows.

That GT500 is one of those bows that has a cult like following. An early classic Elite bow.
