Thinking of buying my first set of waders, besides the 5mm neoprene duck hunters. Use would be tailwater fishing on Tanneycomo and similar water, but not alot of it. Reading here and elsewhere, I see several posts about Simms quality and service slipping. Reviews of these and most every other brand include lots with early age leaks.
I'm looking primarily at the entry level Simms Tributary, Compass 360 Deadfall or Tailwater and maybe Reddington, because of available gift cards and such. What would be a reasonable choice?

Not sure what your price range is but Sportsman’s.com have some Simms on sale. One of them is regularly $449 and it’s on sale for $299. It’s a Gortex wader.

I couldn't weigh in, as I have a pair of Orvis, that I like, but they are getting a little age on them!

I fish in N. Central Pa. I don't have chest waders, I do have wading pants and hip waders, for both I use Frogg Toggs, they have done well for me, no way I would spend the money on Simms, or even Orvis, especially as rough as I am on gear, if I'm up some brushy mountain stream teaming with green briars and rip my Frogg togg hip waders, I'm out $50 and as often as I fish which is every Saturday and Sunday and 2 or 3 days during the week, I buy good wading shoes and once the temp warms up I go just in shorts and my wading shoes, years of fishing and hiking in these hills has taught me to be a minimalist, I go with a small sling pack, 1 fly box, two spools of tippet, snub nose 357, a sharp knife and a ziplock bag full of ice to keep those wild trout pretty till I get them to the frying pan. Brook trout from 7 to 9 inches is the best meal you will ever eat, I never eat stock trout... Yecchhh

What have you actually used the “snub nose 357” for while brook trout fishing?

I use a Glock 19 while fishing, you never know when your going to walk into someones marijuana patch or come back to your car to find someone stripping it.

I've never used my snub-nose .357 for anything while fishing, but it will always be with me with a birdshot load in the first chamber and SWCs in the rest.

To the OP, I'm eager to hear your review on what you bought. I'm in the same boat, but I'm leaning toward Orvis just because I've collected a few gift cards over the past couple of years.

I was a simms fanboy for years. Tried out a pair of the mid grade Patagonia’s on a guided recommendation and they are the cats meow. Very comfortable and well made. Good warranty also.
