Does anybody here have experience building bamboo fly rods? I'm pretty interested in learning about it and building a couple this winter. I'd like to make it into a hobby and build rods regularly once I get into it.

By building do you mean starting from scratch, splitting your own culms, acquiring forms and planing your own strips, gluing them together....the whole enchilada? Or buying a blank and finishing it?

Yes I'm talking about from culm to finished rod, the entire process. Interested in building a Payne 100 taper based rod first.

Unless I'm mistaken Bob Nunley and Harry Boyd both post on that site. There's a pile of outstanding builders on that site but they're two of the "big guns" in the industry/craft. It's a fascinating endeavor, good luck with it!!
